Gamma Nu History

Gamma Nu Boulé was the second member boulé established the state of Mississippi. Its founders, Archon William A. McMillan, Sr., then president of Rust College, and Archon O.P. Lowe, a biology professor at Rust, had been charter members of Beta Gamma Boulé of southern Mississippi since 1976. But the size of the state, wide distribution of Archons, and the number of qualified men in northern Mississippi begged the establishment of a new boulé, which Archons McMillan and Lowe proceeded to organize. Two other members of Beta Gamma residing in northern Mississippi, Archons David L. Beckley and John B. Jones, chose to remain with Beta Gamma. On May 1, ten years after the founding of the first member boulé in Mississippi, Gamma Nu was set apart. Grand Grammateus Butler Henderson was most helpful in getting Gamma Nu started, and he and Grand Sire Archon Richard I. McKinney, along with other Grand Officers, attended the initiation, which was held on the campus of Rust College in Holly Springs. Since its inception Gamma Nu has promoted dynamic programs both locally and nationally.
