Delta Alpha History

In the mid-1980s, when professional men of Northern Illinois became interested in coming to know the best of one another, Archon Jack Gilmore of Beta Alpha Boulé in Milwaukee provided enthusiastic encouragement to Mr. Sherman Noble, Jr., and Drs. Earl Woods and Craig Rucker who served as leaders of a group of potential Archons. Assisting Archon Gilmore in mentoring this group were Archons Charles Raines III and George Stinson of Gamma Tau Boulé in Racine-Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Archon Bill T. Carr of Beta Alpha Boulé. In 1989 the leadership core of the interest group identified twenty-nine prospects for membership, the application for a charter was approved, and on January 6, 1990, seventeen members were inducted in the presence Grand Sire Archon Samuel P. Massie, Grand Sire Archon-Elect Benjamin Major, Grand Grammateus Butler T. Henderson, Central Region Sire Archon Richard Letts, and Archon Robert V. Franklin, chairman of the Growth and Expansion Committee.
