This photo was taken in April 2015 during a typhoid fever outbreak investigation in Uganda. Working with the Uganda FETP to identify the mode of transmission of the outbreak, CDC’s environmental microbiologists in the Waterborne Disease Prevention Branch identify potentially contaminated water sources by testing water onsite or collecting water samples and analyzing them in a laboratory.
