  BSc (Hons) Information Technology Management for Business is at the heart of Derby Business School, where the knowledge and skills you learn will be closely related to people and to delivering business benefit. For example: Project Management – not just planning and reporting but also how to deal with difficult stakeholders, how to lead and, most importantly, how to succeed.
  
  IT in organisations is not only considered in terms of the systems but also how people use IT, the expectations that decision-makers now have of IT design, and how to measure the benefits of an IT project.
  
  You will learn communication, teamwork and leadership skills in stage one, applying and improving them throughout the rest of the course, as well as having the opportunity to have your CV reviewed and practise your interview skills. These skills can set you apart in the job market.
  
  You will be introduced to programming through appreciating users’ experience, the benefits that IT can bring and the principles of good web design before moving on to learning programming in an environment where we never lose sight of the end goal: reliable, maintainable and tested programs that deliver something useful.
  
  Learning outside the classroom
  
  You'll have plenty of opportunities to meet business professionals from large and well known organisations. You will visit them to learn about how they function, and also work with some on live projects in some of your modules.

How you will learn
- Starting in your induction week and then throughout the BSc (Hons) Information Technology Management for Business, you will have the opportunity to meet business professionals from large well known organisations. You will also visit organisations to learn about how they function and work on specific projects within some of the modules. Each semester Derby Business School hosts many events to connect you with the business community, giving you the opportunity to further develop your business acumen skills and help prepare you for your future career.
  
  Assessment
  
  You will be assessed using a variety of methods according to the module. Coursework assessment may include essays, management reports, examinations, presentations and group work as well as your contributions to tutorials. We concentrate on ensuring that assessment methods help prepare you for your career so assessment by examination is very much the exception.
  
  Teaching hours
  
  Like most universities, we operate extended teaching hours at the University of Derby, so contact time with your lecturers and tutors could be anytime between 9am and 9pm. Your timetable will usually be available on the website 24 hours after enrolment on to your course.
