Outdoor and Adventure Sport Courses
Outdoor and adventure sport is a rapidly evolving industry promoting quality of life through exhilarating and challenging activities.
Situated at our Buxton Campus, within a rope’s throw of the Peak District National Park, we’ll help you harness your love of the outdoors into a successful career by providing you with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge you’ll need to make an impact in this exciting world.
You may also have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications such as NGB Awards in climbing, coaching and canoeing to strengthen your knowledge-base and applied experience, providing you with more to offer employers on graduation.
Facilities
Our outdoor courses are based at our very own Outdoor Leadership Centre, Oaklands Manor. Set in 55 acres of mixed woodlands, its main features include a 30 foot climbing wall, high and low rope courses and an artificial underground caving course. It’s the ideal setting for the next generation of outdoor leaders. You’ll build your own skills in outdoor activities but also gain experience of running our facility which is popular with corporate clients, children’s groups and outward bound enthusiasts.
Exciting Fieldtrips
Fieldtrips are one of the most exhilarating features of our outdoor courses. Our students have found themselves mountain biking in Snowdonia, sea cliff climbing on the Gower Peninsula, caving in the Yorkshire Dales, canoeing in Scotland, ice climbing in Norway and kayaking in Slovenia.
