‌Culture & Information comprises Archive, Information Governance and Museum Services. We are also affiliated to the Centre for Archive and Information Studies (CAIS)

The main aims of the department are to:

• to align with the University Strategy to transform lives
• secure the long-term preservation of the University collections and selected institutional records
• promote the use of the collections to support the core institutional aims of research, teaching and learning
• use the collections to support the promotion of the University
• support institutional governance by ensuring the proper control and management of the University’s records and information and by maintaining ‌institutional compliance with information legislation
• provide world-leading archival education and research opportunities

Michael Peto Photography: Politics in Focus

‌Peto's powerful black and white photographs provide a dramatic portrait of world leaders, British politicians and political activists of the 1950s and 60s - a period of Cold War tension, emerging democracies and cultural and social change in the UK. The Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh was the venue for this free exhibition, which ran from 22 July-22 August 2015.

'And the Winner is ...' Celebrating the Best in British Theatre and Film

A rare opportunity to see images of leading lights of the British theatre and film including Laurence Olivier, Sir Ian McKellan, Richard Burton and Vanessa Redgrave. Taken by the Hungarian photojournalist Michael Peto, the photographs, from the collection of Archive Services, were on display in the Dalhousie Building, University of Dundee in the summer of 2015

The University at War

This exhibition in the Tower Foyer explored the effect of the First World War on the University and affiliated institutions. Using items and research from the University's archive and museum collections it looked at the impact of war on staff, students, and the City in which they lived.
