‘Billions’ Star Challenges Emmys Male-Female Acting Categories (Exclusive)

5 April 2017 5:41 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

On this season’s “Billions,” actor Asia Kate Dillon is stealing scenes as Taylor Mason, the financial wunderkind who is helping Damian Lewis’ Bobby Axelrod scheme his way to fame and fortune.

Showrunners David Levien and Brian Koppelman auditioned cis, trans and gender non-binary actors for the role, and cast Dillon after the third audition. Dillon’s performance not only inspired the writers to give Dillon more to do, but also impressed everyone on set. “Our cast and crew, basically to a person, all came up to us after Asia’s first day with the general attitude of ‘holy s–t that person is amazing,'” report the creators. “And that only grew throughout the season.”

That the star would be a contender for the upcoming Emmy Awards is a given — but when Showtime asked which category Dillon wanted to be submitted under, Dillon had to give it some thought. The »

NBC has ordered an additional two episodes of it’s revival of comedy “Will & Grace,” Variety has confirmed, lifting the limited series’ total order to 12 episodes.

In January, NBC announced that it would reunite the cast and creators of the classic multicamera sitcom for a 10-episode run. The limited series will reunite Emmy winners Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes, and Megan Mullally with series creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, who will serve as showrunners and executive producers. James Burrows, who directed the entire eight-season run of the original series, will serve as director and executive producer on the revival. Universal Television will produce and distribute the new episodes.

NBC began discussions with the cast and creators in September, after they reunited to shoot a surprise 10-minute episode related to the presidential election.

Airing on NBC from 1998 to 2006, “Will & Grace” was one of the first broadcast programs to feature gay series regulars. The »

‘Archer’ Creator Adam Reed on the Show’s Surprising Move to Dreamland

23 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The following contains plot details from the Season 7 premiere of “Archer” (“Archer: Dreamland”) and teases a few hints for upcoming Season 8 episodes. Reader discretion is advised.

Season 7 of “Archer” ended with one of the show’s biggest cliffhangers: Main character Sterling Archer (voiced by H. Jon Benjamin), floating apparently dead in a swanky Los Angeles swimming pool. He’s not dead, we discover in the first few scenes of Season 8, which debuted Wednesday night on Fxx. But his faithful servant Woodhouse is; and Archer, while alive, has been in a coma for months. The shock is so great that Malory (Jessica Walter) and Lana (Aisha Tyler) are even being cordial to each other as they take turns sitting by his hospital bed.

But while they wait, Archer’s dreaming. “Archer: Dreamland” leaps from the show’s timeline into its protagonist’s dreamscape, in which Archer is the jaded noir detective some part of him always wanted to »

Woodstock will always go down as one if not the biggest rock concerts in the history of the United States. It was held between 15th and 17th of August in 1969, and was the true catalyst of what is now endless music festivals which bring the most famous artists together from all over the world.  But Woodstock was obviously so much more.  It was a chance for thousands of people to come together in freedom to celebrate being alive.   It was a time for protest, war, and political unrest.
