These electronic resources subscribed to by DCU Library may be used within the DCU network, or off-campus, by DCU registered staff and students only. They can also be used by bona fide walk-in users within the library.
Use of these resources is for the purpose of non-commercial DCU-related teaching, learning, research and administration work only. It is not permitted to facilitate database access to any other person(s) for any other purpose. Such use will breach licence terms and may leave the parties concerned, and/or users as defined above who facilitate such third party use, open to legal sanction. Systematic downloading or retention of information from databases using robots, spiders or manual means is not permitted. Dictionary of Irish Biography
The Dictionary of Irish Biography, a collaborative project between Cambridge University Press and the Royal Irish Academy, is the most comprehensive and authoritative biographical dictionary yet published for Ireland. It contains 9,014 signed biographical articles which describe and assess the careers of subjects in all fields of endeavour, including politics, law, religion, literature, journalism, architecture, painting, music, the stage, science, medicine, engineering, entertainment and sport.
Dissertation Abstracts
Dissertations Abstracts is the largest single source of information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses available. It contains over 2 million entries, ranging from the first U.S. dissertation accepted in 1861 to those just accepted.

Education-Line
Education-line is a freely accessible database of the full text of conference papers, working papers and electronic literature which supports educational research, policy and practice.
Education Research Complete
Education Research Complete is a bibliographic and full text database covering scholarly research and information relating to all areas of education. Topics covered include all levels of education from early childhood to higher education, and all educational specialties, such as multilingual education, health education, and testing. Education Research Complete also covers areas of curriculum instruction as well as administration, policy, funding, and related social issues. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 1,500 journals, as well as full- text for more than 750 journals. This database also includes full text for more than 80 books and full text for numerous education-related conference papers.

ERIC International
ERIC International consists of two abstract databases which can be searched together or separately:
- The Australian Education Index is Australia's largest source of education information. Its sources include reports, books, journal articles, online resources, conference papers, book chapters and theses. Coverage: 1977 to date.
- ERIC (the US Educational Resources Information Center) is the world's largest education database, indexing over 650 journals, as well as grey literature. Publication types include journal articles, books, research syntheses, conference papers, technical reports and policy papers. Coverage: 1966 to date.
ESRI reports
Full-text of the Economic and Social Research Institute publications. Search or browse and download PDF documents. Covers a wide range of topics including education, health, gender issues, housing, industrial development, and social disadvantage.
Company accounts, ratios, activities, ownership and management for the largest 2.6 million UK and Irish companies, summary information for a further 1 million smaller businesses.

Film Indexes Online is three film databases which can be searched together or separately.
- American Film Index Catalogue (AFI) is the premier, authoritative resource of American film information, covers the history of American cinema comprehensively from 1893 to 1974, with records for selected major films from 1975-2008.
- Film Index International (FII). Produced in collaboration with the British Film Institute and based on the Summary of Film and Television (SIFT) database collated by the BFI over the past 70 years, FiIm Index International provides in-depth indexing of over 120,000 films and biographical information for more than 737,000 personalities.
- FIAF Index to Film Periodicals Plus is a bibliographical index of the world's foremost academic and popular film journals from 1972 to the present day. It also included full-text access to 47 journals.
Geoscience World
Provides full text access to peer-reviewed articles from high impact geoscience publications. GeoScienceWorld is the result of a collaboration by six leading earth science societies and one institute to develop cooperatively an electronic research resource for earth sciences.It is interoperable with GeoRef, the bibliographic search database published by the American Geological Institute which includes information on over 3500 publications.

IEEE Xplore
Represents 30% of electrical engineering and computer science literature.
