Nicole Kidman Explains Her Bizarre Clapping at Oscars, Admits 'It Was Really Awkward'

There's a legit reason as to why Nicole Kidman was clapping so strangely when cameras panned to her at the 89th Academy Awards last month.
During an interview on Australia's Kyle and Jackie O radio show on Thursday morning, the Lion star revealed that it was her 119 carats of Harry Winston jewels, which included a pear-shaped ring, that were responsible for her bizarre round of applause.
“It was really awkward," she admitted of her clapping. "I was like, 'I wanna clap, I don’t wanna not be clapping.' That’d be worse, right? Like, 'Why isn’t Nicole clapping?'"
Kidman further explained, "So therefore I’m clapping but it was really difficult because I had a huge ring on that was not mine -- but it was absolutely gorgeous -- and I was terrified of damaging it."

One former Harry Potter actor has sustained severe injuries in a head-on car accident. Fans of actor Jim Tavare, who played the Leaky Cauldron innkeeper Tom in the third film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban, were updated about his condition on his Facebook page.
“This is Laura here. Now that his family have been informed, Jim has asked me to let you all know that he was involved in a serious car accident yesterday, a head on collision,” the post read. “He's currently in ICU intensive care.”

The former child stars have settled a class-action lawsuit against a group of former interns, paying up to $140,000, according to court documents obtained by Et.

In 2015, 40 past and present interns for the Olsens' Dualstar Entertainment Group, which produced their films and backs their fashion line, brought a class-action lawsuit against the company in New York Supreme Court, alleging they were either unpaid or paid less than the minimum wage after working extended hours.
The number of interns involved in the case and believed to be eligible for payout has since grown to 185. Under the terms of the the settlement, Dualstar has agreed to pay $530 for every claimant who applies and qualifies for compensation, according to a preliminary statement released last week, though a judge has yet to sign off on the docs.
