Pablo Hidalgo says Supreme Leader Snoke will not appear in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

1 May 2016 5:31 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

One of the big talking points coming out of the trailer for December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story concerns the shot of a hooded figure kneeling before what looks to be a Bacta tank, with two of the Emperor’s Royal Guard standing at either side.

The shot in question has led to incessant speculation amongst fans – not only with regards the mysterious hooded figure, but also the inhabitant of the Bacta tank. Could it be the Emperor? Darth Vader? Or how about Supreme Leader Snoke, the new villain from last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

The Snoke theory certainly seemed plausible – the Supreme Leader has clearly suffered some major injuries prior to The Force Awakens, and introducing him in Rogue One would not only help to develop his character prior to Episode VIII, but it would also go some way to explaining his knowledge of the Galactic Empire, »

28 April 2016 3:14 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Warning. Spoilers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story follow…

He was absent from the first trailer, but it seems that Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen has let slip a spoiler about his role in Decembers’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story during an interview with Sky News.

“I read the script and it was very beautiful,” said Mikkelsen, when asked about the hotly-anticipated spinoff. “Felicity Jones is playing this lovely, strong woman. I play her… father.”

Potentially bigger spoilers follow. You may want to turn back now…

Mikkelsen’s comments about him portraying Jyn Erso’s father tally up with a rumour from back in January, which highlighted the relationship between the two characters. James Franco has once again discussed his sexuality in a new interview. Speaking with New York Magazine, the actor describes himself as "a little gay" but clarified that if the definition of gay and straight is who he sleeps with, then he would call himself a "tease." Franco, 38, who has explored gay-themed roles in films including Howl, Milk and I Am Michael, insists there's "overfocusing" when it comes to the media's curiosity with his sexuality. "There is a bit of overfocusing on my sexuality, both by the straight press and the gay press, and so the first question is why do they care? »

James Franco’s Gay Porn Project ‘King Cobra’ Premieres at Tribeca

17 April 2016 9:44 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

James Franco premiered his latest project, “King Cobra,” directed by Justin Kelly and starring Christian Slater and Keegan Allen with cameos from Molly Ringwald and Alicia Silverstone, at the Tribeca Film Festival Saturday night.

Inspired by a true story, Slater stars as Stephen, a gay porn producer behind the company King Cobra, who takes on a new star, Brent Corrigan (Garrett Clayton). When Corrigan wants out of his contract, Stephen refuses. The Viper Boys, two rival porn producers played by Franco and “Pretty Little Liars” star Allen, pledge to help Corrigan out, and decide to brutally murder Stephen.

Kelly knew it wouldn’t be easy to make a film about gay porn, and credits Franco with getting the movie off the ground.

Cannes 2016 line-up offers heavyweights, potential gems and food for thought

14 April 2016 6:11 AM, PDT | ScreenDaily | See recent ScreenDaily news »

Competition titles include Nicolas Windng Refn’s The Neon Demon [pictured], Jeff NicholsLoving and Xavier Dolan It’s Only The End Of The World.

The Cannes Film Festival unveiled the Official Selection for its 69th edition today at a packed press conference in Paris.

European heavyweights Pedro Almodovar, the Dardenne brothers and Ken Loach are among 20 filmmakers set to compete for the Palme d’Or.

There were few surprises in Competition – aside from the inclusion of Maren Ade’s Toni Erdmann, the first German film in Competition since Wim Wenders’s Palermo Shooting in 2008 – and the news that this year’s Palme d’Or winner will be the closing film.

The more exploratory Un Certain Regard section, however, welcomed a number of newcomers including Romanian director Bogdan Mirica’s Dogs, Us filmmaker Michael O’Shea’s The Transfiguration, and Personal Affairs (Omor Shakhsiya) by Maha Haj, a Palestinian citizen of Israel.

Daisy Ridley dismisses speculation that Rogue One’s Jyn Erso is Rey’s mother

11 April 2016 3:48 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Within virtually minutes of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer dropping last week, some fans were speculating whether Felicity Jones’ character Jyn Erso could be the mother of Rey, played by fellow Brit Daisy Ridley in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Well, speaking to MTV at the MTV Movie Awards, Ridley has put the speculation to rest, stating that: “I’m not being funny, you guys, but just because she’s white and got brown hair … it doesn’t mean she’s my mom.”

Well, she does have a British accent too, so…

Star Wars Exclusive: Rogue One’s Darth Vader casting revealed

11 April 2016 1:15 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Following last month’s correct report on who Scoot McNairy was really playing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (spoilers: it wasn’t Jimmy Olsen or Metallo), we’ve now got a Star Wars exclusive for you this morning on the casting of Darth Vader.

It was reported last year that the Sith Lord would feature in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and that Hayden Christensen would be reprising the role for the movie. We teased last month that the rumour was correct, but Christensen would not be playing the part. That’s because our sources are telling us that in fact British actor Spencer Wilding has been cast to play the body of Darth Vader in Rogue One.

Wilding is mostly a stunt actor and has had bit parts in Guardians of the Galaxy, Batman Begins, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and Wrath of the Titans. We »

'Wolverine 3' Gets 'Narcos' Star Boyd Holbrook as the Villain

8 April 2016 5:30 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

We haven't heard much about 20th Century Fox's Wolverine 3 in quite some time, aside from X-Men Origins: Wolverine star Liev Schreiber confirming that he's been in talks with the studio to reprise his role as Sabretooth. We know that Hugh Jackman is returning for his final performance as the title character, with Patrick Stewart also coming back as Professor X. Today we have a new report from Deadline that reveals Narcos star Boyd Holbrook has closed a deal to play the primary villain.

The actor is reportedly playing the head of security for a "global enterprise," who squares off against Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. It isn't known for sure if this character has roots in the Marvel Comics, or if he was created specifically for this movie. There have been rumors that this story will be adapted from the Old Man Logan comics, where Logan loses his mutant powers and »

Scooperhero News – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice might be making a lot of money, but it isn’t making the amount of money it needs to be making at this point in its release.
