Beauty and the Beast (2017)
An adaptation of the Disney fairy tale about a monstrous-looking prince and a young woman who fall in love.
Director:Bill Condon |

The Buzz: For this live action spin on their classic animated fairy tale, Disney has reworked the formula just a bit by including a few new songs, an origin story of sorts for the Beast, and a wrinkle in time that brings the title characters together. But we understand these slight updates and changes only enhance the classic story, and the contemporary update should also stand the test of time.
T2 Trainspotting (2017)
After 20 years abroad, Mark Renton returns to Scotland and reunites with his old friends Sick Boy, Spud, and Begbie.
Director:Danny Boyle |
|

The Buzz: We've been trying to keep our imaginations free of spoilers as we await our first sit with Danny Boyle first-ever sequel. However, we're pleased to know that. amongst the reunion hijinks and Boyle's cranked up visual flourishes, is a story that isn't afraid to veer into bummer territory and stay there. The argument will forever remain open if Trainspotting really needed a sequel in the first place, but we're already satisfied to know that T2 doesn't believe in happy endings.
Song to Song (2017) - [Opens in LA/NYC]
Two intersecting love triangles. Obsession and betrayal set against the music scene in Austin, Texas.
Director:Terrence Malick |
|
Watch Trailer |
The Buzz: Expect Terrence Malick to earn some of his most divisive reviews to date as he uses the Austin/SXSW music scene as the setting for a love triangle between three musicians. We don't think Malick has ever assembled a more alluring cast, but indulging the whims and neuroses of indie rockers might make for one tough sit, even if we get to hear Ryan Gosling croon again.
The Belko Experiment (2016)
In a twisted social experiment, 80 Americans are locked in their high-rise corporate office in Bogotá, Colombia and ordered by an unknown voice coming from the company's intercom system to participate in a deadly game of kill or be killed.
Director:Greg McLean |
|

The Buzz: We can't tell if there will be any substance to this co-creation from Wolf Creek director Greg McLean and Troma-cum-Marvel filmmaker James Gunn but the unavoidable appeal of this premise is the elephant in pretty much every meeting room in any corporate structure across the world.
Frantz (2016) - [Opens 3/15 in NYC]
In the aftermath of WWI, a young German who grieves the death of her fiancé in France meets a mysterious Frenchman who visits the fiancé's grave to lay flowers.
Director:François Ozon |
|
Watch Trailer |
The Buzz: Only a director on François Ozon's level could make a WWI drama feel subversive and a touch playful as we try and figure out this mysterious Frenchman's intentions and his connection to German solider who perished in the war. Ozon, who typically cranks out a project every year, two took years to make the picture, his first in black and white and mostly in German.
They Call Me Jeeg (2015)- Action | Comedy | Sci-Fi
Enzo, a lonely and misanthropic small time crook, uses the superpowers gained after falling in the Tiber river to chase down a crazy gangster called "The gypsy".
Director:Gabriele Mainetti |
|
Watch Trailer |
The Buzz: A sleeper hit in its native Italy last year, as well as a critical/audience favorite at specialty festivals, Gabriele Mainetti's superhero movie turns the genre on its head and earned distribution deals around the world. This is a trailer that's definitely worth watching.
Betting on Zero (2016)- Documentary
Writer/director Ted Braun follows controversial hedge fund titan Bill Ackman as he puts a billion dollars on the line in his crusade to expose Herbalife as the largest pyramid scheme in history.
Director:Ted BraunStars:William Ackman |
|
Watch Trailer |
The Buzz: It's a war between a hedge fund investor and one of the world's largest direct selling companies, and we're supposed to route for ... who, exactly? What's fierce about Ted Braun's Betting on Zero is: Sponsored ads against the documentary appear first when you Google the film's title.
