‘Marvel’s Inhumans’ ABC Series Casts ‘Lost’ Alum as Karnak

7 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Ken Leung has been cast in ABC’s “Marvel’s Inhumans,” Variety has learned. The “Lost” alum will play Karnak, based on the character from the comics.

“Marvel’s Inhumans” will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding king of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.

Leung’s character Karnak is Black Bolt’s cousin and closest advisor. His gift is an ability to see the fault in all things — people, plans, structures, everything. He’s Black Bolt’s most ardent supporter and strategist and is often seen as the royal family’s planner and philosopher.

“Ken brings both a wisdom and a power to the role that no one else could match. His Karnak will be awesome,” said Marvel head of television and executive producer, Jeph Loeb.

‘Mad Men’ Creator Matt Weiner Reveals Details of New Amazon Drama ‘The Romanoffs’

9 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Matt Weiner is back in his element – a writers room stocked with “Mad Men” alums as he tackles his ambitious and unconventional new series, Amazon’s “The Romanoffs.”

“Romanoffs” will consist of eight hourlong episodes, each of which will tell a standalone story with no recurring plot elements or actors. The only common thread is that each episode will tell the stories of people in contemporary times who believe they are descendants of the imperial family that ruled Russia from 1613 until the Bolsheviks seized power in 1917.

Czar Nicholas II, empress Alexandra and their five children were sent into exile and brutally murdered by a Bolshevik execution squad in July 1918. The Romanoffs’ legend has been burnished for a century by the lore that daughter Anastasia survived the slayings and wound up taking on a new identity.

For Weiner, creator and exec producer of AMC’s hallowed period drama “Mad Men,” the attraction of “Romanoffs” is not to revisit »

The series, which was recognized by both Emmy and Screen Actors Guild voters the last two years, centers on racism, sexism and classism in the United States — issues that remain applicable now more than ever. According to executive producer Michael McDonald, the latest installment will focus heavily on the imbalance of America’s social classes, while also revisiting women’s rights and racial prejudice.

“The main thing we wanted to tackle is the exploitation of the workforce in America and how people are working to survive and how they’re barely doing so,” McDonald said. “Modern-day slavery does exists [in America] and we close our eyes to it »

Chicago P.D. Review: The Thin Line Between Justice and Revenge

The continuation of the #OneChicago crossover continues with Chicago P.D. Following the horrific arson which took the lives of over three dozen young adults in a structure fire, P.D. picked up where Chicago Fire left off with no break in between. That choice isn’t made just for the effect of the crossover storyline, but to emphasize that this is truly one family, one community, and One Chicago. Which means that whatever one show family feels, so does the other. This is just as true for the premiere of Chicago Justice, which is very specifically timed behind the murky actions Chicago P.D.

This is How Much Money The NFL Generated In TV Ad Revenue Last Season

While some of the biggest news about the NFL last year concerned its decreasing viewership, that in no way means the league made less money.  In fact, the most profitable professional sports league in the United States made more money than it ever has.  Despite Tom Brady’s 4 game suspension for Deflate Gate, the number of domestic abuse incidents that occurred, and the Johnny Manziel saga, advertisers were dishing out money hand over fist to get TV spots while games were airing. The NFL’s long-standing power over TV viewers managed to draw $3.5 billion out of the various advertisers that
