Oscar Best Picture Nominees Get the Honest Trailer Treatment

The ever-clever Honest Trailers produced by Screen Junkies just wouldn’t be the same without an Oscar installment. In the newest edition, Hollywood gets roasted for its selection of nine best picture nominees. “They’ve got to stop releasing all these movies at the same time,” the voiceover mocks. With less than a week to go before Hollywood’s biggest night, the industry could probably use a couple lighthearted jokes.
The video runs through all the nominees, beginning with “Arrival” and moving onto “Lion” (“If you say you’ve seen this, you’re probably lyin’.”) “Hell or High Water” gets the same treatment. Paired with clips of “True Grit,” the trailer promises viewers a chance to hear “that one grizzled cowboy voice Jeff Bridges does.”

Today Disney and Lucasfilm made it official: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story from director Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker will make its Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and DVD debut on April 4th, 2017.
You'll be able to watch Star Wars: Rogue One two weeks prior on March 24th when the first standalone Star Wars film is released exclusively on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere. All high definition versions will be presented in 7.1 DTS-hd Master Audio.
Star Wars: Rogue One was a beast at the box office this past holiday season, earning over one billion at the global box office and proving the Star Wars franchise could stand on its own two feet without the core Skywalker mythology involved.
Bonus features are notably missing any of the deleted and re-shot footage from the third act. »
Martin Scorsese's 'The Irishman' Heads to Netflix From Paramount

Martin Scorsese's The Irishman has made the move to Netflix.
The streamer has picked up the rights to the long-gestating gangster movie, which was originally set up at Paramount, sources confirm.
The Irishman will see the director reunite with Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Al Pacino.
Steve Zaillian adapted The Irishman from Charles Brandt‘s book I Heard You Paint Houses, which chronicles the exploits of Frank Sheeran, a high-ranking Teamsters official with ties to the Bufalino crime family. Shortly before his death in 2003, Sheeran confessed that he killed fellow Teamster leader Jimmy Hoffa, whose body has never been found. He also claimed that it was Hoffa who wanted John F. Kennedy killed.

Rachel Bloom and Adam Pally are set to lead Most Likely to Murder, a mystery comedy acquired by Lionsgate, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The stars of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Making History, respectively, will also produce the film with Petra Ahmann. Dan Gregor will direct from a script he co-wrote with Doug Mand, his writing partner on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Mand, who will also appear in the film, is an executive producer with Gregor.
Lionsgate acquired the title through Lionsgate Digital Studio, which aims to produce low-budget features and episodic series. Production is scheduled to begin next month in New York.

Imax and Disney have renewed their longstanding slate deal through 2019, and disclosed that director Rian Johnson shot key sequences of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” using Imax’s extremely high-resolution cameras.
“The Last Jedi” opens Dec. 15. The deal also covers the untitled Han Solo anthology film, which opens May 25, 2018, and “Star Wars: Episode IX.”
Additionally, the deal extends to Lucasfilm’s untitled Indiana Jones film, Marvel’s “Black Panther,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” “Captain Marvel,” Avengers: Infinity War” and the untitled Avengers sequel; “Beauty and the Beast,” “A Wrinkle in Time,” and “Mulan”; Pixar’s “The Incredibles 2” and “Toy Story 4”; and Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Wreck-It Ralph” sequel.
The companies noted that they have previously announced that “Avengers: Infinity War” and the untitled Avengers sequel will be shot in their entirety by the Russo Brothers with Imax cameras.

Trevor Habberstad, a stuntman and stunt coordinator who worked on X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse, died Sunday after a battle with cancer. He was 27.

Japanese director Seijun Suzuki died Feb. 13 at a Tokyo hospital after a battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which affects the lungs. He was 93.
His death was announced by Nikkatsu, the studio that famously fired him in 1967 after 12 years and 40 films, for what is now seen as his masterpiece, Branded to Kill. The film was made in black and white as a punishment for his work on Tokyo Drifter — now also considered a classic — the year before. City To City, Vanguard axed from 2017 edition.
With seven months to go before this year’s event, the Toronto International Film Festival (Tiff) hierarchy has unveiled a slimmed-down event while preserving its status as an awards season platform.
Both the City To City and Vanguard strands are being retired, while several programmers will not return including, as recently announced, the popular Midnight Madness master of ceremonies Colin Geddes.
Total festival selections will drop by 20% amid a tacit acknowledgement by the leadership that historical levels had a tendency to overwhelm visitors, especially working press. Based on last year’s level of 397 films, a 20% cut would mean a total selection of about 318.

Fox Searchlight Pictures has set a July 7 release for Amanda Lipitz’s documentary “Step” — making it the first title to go up against Sony’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”
Fox Searchlight bought rights to the movie last month following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
The film, featuring Blessin Giraldo, Cori Grainger, Tayla Solomon, Gari McIntyre, and Paula Dofat, documents the senior year of a girls’ high-school step dance team in inner-city Baltimore.
