Brad Garrett has been cast in CBS’ pilot “The Get,” a drama about a team of investigative journalists.
Garrett is set to play Bill, described as a hardworking reporter who has spent his life working up to the position of executive producer. He joins existing cast member Emayatzy Corinealdi, who will play Noelle, described as a fearless journalist who never backs down from a story she cares about.
Produced by CBS Television Studios, “The Get” follows a team of tireless internet journalists as they pursue and expose stories of injustice using their unconventional investigative techniques in today’s anything-goes world of reporting.
The pilot hales from writer and executive producer Bridget Carpenter and CBS Television Studios. Carpenter previously served as showrunner on Hulu time-travel drama “11.22.63,” which she executive produced with J.J. Abrams. Fox announced the return of Lee Daniels’ second music drama on Monday.
Season 2 will consist of 13 episodes, TVLine has confirmed.

FX has set the premiere date for the third season of “Fargo.” The newest installment of the anthology series from writer and executive producer Noah Hawley will debut Wednesday, April 19 at 10 p.m. on the cable channel.
Currently in production in Calgary, the third season of “Fargo” stars Ewan McGregor as twins Emmit and Ray Stussy — Emmit the parking-lot king of Minnesota, Ray a balding, pot-bellied parole officer who blames his brother for his misfortunes. Carrie Coon, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and David Thewlis also star.
The new season is set in the year 2010, making it the most contemporary installment in the crime-drama anthology loosely inspired by the films of Joel and Ethan Coen. Fox is bringing back another one of its first-year series.
A day after renewing freshman comedy The Mick, the network has also handed a season two pickup to Lethal Weapon. The drama will be back for a 22-episode second season.

C. Thomas Howell has booked a recurring role on Showtime’s “Ray Donovan,” TheWrap has learned. “This Is Us” caused a flood of tears last night, and brought in its now-usual flood of eyeballs in the 18-49 demographic for NBC. The all-Randall episode drew a 2.5 rating in the demo and an average audience of 9.37 million viewers, up from last week and just around its average. The finale of “The Wall” notched a 1.4 in the demo and 5.9 million viewers. After “This Is Us,” “Chicago Fire” came in with a 1.6 and 7.07 million viewers.

If you’ve never read the books written by James S.A. Corey upon which “The Expanse” is based, then Episode 5 of the second season more than likely came as a massive shock. As a show adapted from a popular book series with serious genre roots, “The Expanse” has elicited comparisons to “Game of Thrones” before. But the series reached Red Wedding-levels of surprise with “Home,” in which Miller (Thomas Jane) bonds with the protomolecule-infected Julie Mao (Florence Faivre) to prevent the Eros station from crashing into Earth.

Sony and Japan’s Mitsui Launch Animation Joint Venture

Sony Pictures Entertainment (Japan) is looking to take anime to a global audience in partnership with Japanese trading company Mitsui & Co.
The two firms have created joint venture Ak Holdings Corporation, in which Sony has a majority. Ak will operate the two companies’ existing Japanese animation channels, Animax and Kids Station, and also produce and distribute animation content.
With plans to expand into live animation events and to manage animation-themed restaurants, the operation is looking at worldwide expansion. The scheduled launch date is March 31.
“Anime has grown to become a major cultural export with massive commercial appeal around the world,” said Masao Takiyama, managing director of Spej Television Network, and representative director of Kids Station and Animax, in a statement. “Combining the strengths of Sony’s Animax with Mitsui’s Kids Station will allow us to increase our production capacity and reach fans of all ages in Japan and around the world.”

Sometimes it’s hard to review a show that maintains such a high level of intensity and quality for such a long time. The 100 does such a great job with maintaining intensity on what most would consider a slow-burn, serialized story, that it’s hard to review it week to week.
