These 900+ men are wanted for conscription in the Syrian Arab Army; however, due to their prior participation with the Syrian Marines, they have been granted permission by the Syrian Ministry of Defense to join the elite military shield forces.

Falsified reports spread by opposition activists alleged that these 900 men were removed from the Syrian Marines, but a military source confirmed that this was not the case.
