This Deleted Scene From 'Monster Trucks' Shows a Crazy Way to Throw a Car Off a Bridge

If you like car stunts, you're going to want to watch this deleted scene from the movie Monster Trucks. Now before you start acting like you're too cool for an irreverent kids movie about a tentacled monster that hides inside a pickup truck, this clip will definitely appeal more to a physics-aware adult than you might think. The deleted scene is simple enough. Creech, the monster, is trying to track someone on the road, but gets stuck in traffic. So naturally Creech jumps off a bridge, as we all are wont to do when stuck in traffic. But what's particularly neat here is seeing how the scene was actually done. For a movie that obviously has a bunch of CGI in it, it's cool to see that they kept some things very practical. Like tossing a truck into the air and...

Let's Not Wait to Celebrate This Awesome 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' Poster (Exclusive)

Here's a typical life cycle for a movie that isn't a megabudget blockbuster from a major studio. Everyone talks about it before it comes out, it releases, then radio silence hits. Every now and then something may blip up about it, but for the most part it's quiet until 10, 20 years later when people start rediscovering it and celebrating big anniversaries. It happens to pretty much every movie, no matter how great they are. And that's kind of bogus. That's why we think it's pretty awesome that the UK art house Black Dragon Press isn't waiting 10 or 20 years to celebrate the fantastic Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Taika Waititi's indie adventure comedy turns a year old this week, and so to celebrate it Black Dragon teamed up with artist George...

Iron Man Is All Over the New 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Trailer

Here's a sentence we're still surprised we can say: Iron Man is going to be a huge part of Spider-Man: Homecoming. On the big screen, the two characters have spent nearly two decades separated by corporate contracts. But now that Sony and Disney have reached an agreement to bring Spidey into the proper Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark can be a big influence on Tom Holland's Peter Parker. And based on this new trailer, Tony Stark is apparently also a big influence on Michael Keaton's The Vulture. Basically, imagine what would have happened if Stark had decided to use all his techno wizardry for a life of crime instead. That's kind of The Vulture in a nutshell, and he's about to make life very, very difficult for Parker and...

'Star Wars' News: 'Sing Street' Bully Joins Han Solo Movie; Take That Singer Cameos in 'The Last Jedi'

27 March 2017 8:00 PM, PDT

Need your Monday afternoon Star Wars fix? Here's the latest from a galaxy far, far away:   One More Rogue One Easter Egg Beginning with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is now available in digital release, director Gareth Edwards has one final Easter egg to reveal, and he shared the bit of trivia in a new interview for Collider. Here's the scoop on how Jedha became a holy place: "If you look at the establishing shot of Jedha from above, the layout of it is this giant, circular rock formation around where Jedha is—the idea was that there was a meteor impact that hit Jedha, and it came at such a force that it was what created the Kyber Crystals at the center of that crate of impact. So Jedha is like this very unique place in the...

First Images From 'Tomb Raider' Reveal Alicia Vikander's New Lara Croft

27 March 2017 6:00 PM, PDT

If you only associate the name Lara Croft with the 20+ old, polygonal Playstation version or Angelina Jolie's big screen version, you may not recognize the Lara Croft above. The gaming franchise was rebooted a few years ago, and while she underwent an obvious redesign, the character itself also went through significant changes. Now she's less of a wannabe Indiana Jones and more of a woman thrust into a survival scenario that ultimately puts her on a course with her father's adventurer legacy. This new Lara Croft is the version the new Tomb Raider, from The Wave director Roar Uthaug, is based on. It stars Alicia Vikander, and Vanity Fair just debuted the first official look at Vikander in the reinvented role, which clearly hews close to the digital version...

Sony Reportedly Going R-Rated With 'Venom,' Plus: New 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Teaser

27 March 2017 4:30 PM, PDT

The R rating isn't exactly a new thing for the superhero genre. The Blade trilogy did great business, and earned a lot of fans, by letting the blood flow long before superhero movies were the tent pole business they are today. That said, the R-rated superhero movie is definitely trending again. Fox has had tremendous fortune with Deadpool and Logan, and now Sony is said to be getting in on the game with an R-rated Venom. This rumor comes from Collider, who are also reporting that their new Venom movie will serve as a launching point for Sony's own Marvel universe (including the recently announced Black Cat and Silver Sable movie), which will be totally separate from Disney/Marvel's existing Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Sony's own Spider-Man...

In the in-depth and very informative interview, Rodriguez acknowledged that Carpenter was one of his inspirations. Now Rodriguez will follow directly in Carpenter's footsteps.
