Customer Reviews

Better than most apps

I could offer many comments about IMDB in general, but I'll stick to the app. (For example, it doesn't give near as many cast and crew credits as we see at the end of a movie.) IMDB is one of my most-used websites. I use it on my computer and my iPhone. Normally in such cases, I like the computer version much better. In IMDb's case, I like the two versions the same. One nice thing about the app is that it is very fast responding compared to other apps. As with most apps with a desktop version, the information presented on different screens is displayed very differently, and I may have to touch additional icons to get the information available on the other version. It's as if the two developers never speak to each other or look at each others' product. I used to manage software development, and software writers worked for me. I strongly feel a good software writer can't think "human" very well at all, and they expect us to change into their version of reality. That does not seem to be the case with the IMDb app.

So I am your minion now?

I am spending my precious time to go to your app to learn about films and actors and shows and directors, and then I like to write reviews. Why do you make our lives so hard by not offering this feature on your app? Duh, it's a basic thing, unless you don't care about reviews - the very same reviews that actually help your algorithms work. We are working for you for free so make an app that not only gives us info, but makes it easy to give back to you. It's a no brainer. The last thing I want to do is put a to do item to write or upload a review when I am
Actually at a computer (who does that anymore unless they are engaging in real work -- a time when the last thing you want to do is distract yourself with not important tasks). Clearly the people who write the mobile website and app do not understand basic UI behind the typical IMDb user; stop paying them, fire them, and pay us instead by making it ridiculously easy and fun to write reviews on your app.

Falling from grace

IMDB is slowly becoming worse, the biggest blow coming from the removal of the message boards. This was played out as a way to end "trolling" but if you have ever used the message boards regularly you would have realized the benefits of the board which conveniently opened up thought introspect on thought provoking film. IMDB has taking away that valuable attraction and reason to watch films in the first place. To discuss them. They said, even media, that trolls are the reason. Yeah right, it was rarer than you think to find a troll and if you did what did you do? Simply scroll pass. Also, ads are more frequent, the ads sometimes block content as well. The app is slow as ever now, the layout has been beaten up in a back alley because it's staggering about confused whether it's a film information app or a Fandago rip off. I use to love this app, now it's heading in the wrong direction.
