IMPORTANT:
IMDb is the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content.
As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on IMDb,
we have decided to disable IMDb's message boards on February 20, 2017. This includes the Private Message system.
After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb's message boards are no longer providing
a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide.
The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data and traffic.

Why do you rely on TV to get your history? Read a book, you'll learn a whole lot more doing that than watching a black-and-white documentary on Hitler.
Re: September 1, 1939
There's been numerous threads on the message boards discussing the fact that certain cable channels (or nearly all of them) have made programming decisions for the ratings. Never mind what their programming goal/themes were when they started- with a very specific example, I think that's what the OP was getting at.

Re: September 1, 1939
It's true a book is a better source for history, but I think the point was why history channel shows non history programming so much and I couldn't agree more. When history channel shows history programming I think it's a fantastic channel but like all cable channels that start out specific to certain material and then sway away from that material, they quickly go downhill and I think that was the point of the original post.
Re: September 1, 1939
I get the point but it is what it is. Whoever owns it can put on any programming they want and you can choose not to watch it. OP sounds like a whining baby who can't get what he wants.
Like I said, read a book instead of asking to be spoonfed by TV.

Re: September 1, 1939
Sometimes making your point why you're unhappy with a product (cable network or anything else) is productive. Nobody is stating History channel CAN'T show whatever programming it wants, but consumers don't have to like it. Of course it is what it is, and what this is is a message board about TV networks that's being used to voice why we're not always watching the channel. I didn't take it as wining, I took it as an expression of an opinion.
Re: September 1, 1939
Yeah, History fúcking blows now.
I don't even *check* what's on that shïtty station anymore. Just *another* channel that went from great to absolute shït.
Hell, *all* the former "educational channels are like that now. They all cater to the retards who love "redneck reality" crap. It pisses me off some much.
And when History actually *does* play anything "Historical", they just *have* to present it in such a stupid way. It's almost like it's a *Luxury* now, to show anything *remotely* interesting, educational and/or historical.
Such bullshït.
