3 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Syfy has ordered up two more helpings of creepypasta, Variety has learned. Horror anthology “Channel Zero” will be making third and fourth installments for the NBCU net.

Channel Zero” brings to the TV screen the online world of creepypasta — user-generated horror stories that can sometimes take on a real life of their own, as was the case with the “Slenderman” collection of stories and memes that inspired two tweens to stab their friend.

The first season of “Channel Zero,” “Candle Cove,” centered on Kris Straub’s story of one man’s obsessive recollection of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s. “No-End House,” the second six-hour installment, is set to premiere on Syfy in October 2017. It follows Brian Russell’s story of Margot (Amy Forsyth, “The Path”), a young woman who, along with her friends, visits the No-End House — a bizarre house of horrors consisting of a series of increasingly disturbing rooms.

We reported about how Barack Obama is already loving time off by going kite surfing with Richard Branson.   Now Obama has an official character in NBA 2K.  And this is the type of player that only a President would want.  He’s a play maker.  He’s got an amazing handle, and of course he can dunk like no one else in the game.   Obviously the number 44 makes perfect sense.  Charlotte too makes sense because Obama was known to step into North Carolina practices from time to time to show off his lefty stroke. While many assume Obama should be playing

Movie Based on Video Game Rampage in Development with Dwayne Johnson

39 minutes ago | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

Ok this is almost too good to be true.  I poke fun at the video game turning to movie genre all the time.  Mainly because it hasn’t seen much success.  But this is something I cannot believe is really happening.  Remember the game Rampage you played back in the 80s at the arcade?  Nes had a really lame version of it.  You know, the game where you can be a huge gorilla or lizard and smash up buildings as you climb them? I don’t know how or why but New Line Cinema is making a real movie based on this

MTV’s Turnaround Plan: More Music, More Live, More Fun

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

What does the new regime at Viacom want from its MTV? More live programs, more music themes, a greater emphasis on youth culture and, in general, a whole lot more fun.

MTV is the biggest rehabilitation project for Viacom’s cable group, which has been reconfigured to channel more resources to six “flagship” channels out of the total domestic portfolio of 25 channels.

The process of consolidating and integrating Viacom’s cable assets began in October when VH1 and Logo president Chris McCarthy was handed the reins of MTV. Over the past few months he has assembled a core team of top execs who oversee programming, development and marketing for the three channels.

The team has raced to assemble a new slate of unscripted programming for MTV that will be unveiled starting in the summer. The goal is to seed unscripted tentpole series in an effort to bring some youthful sizzle back to the channel.

Berlinale: Tussle Over Unified Digital Market in Europe May Be Coming to a Head

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

The final countdown appears to have begun.

For nearly two years, the industry in Hollywood and Europe has sparred with the European Commission over proposals for a single digital market across the continent, which industry execs say would destroy the territorial film and TV licensing system that forms the backbone of their business. Now, the commission’s centerpiece proposal – an overhaul of copyright laws that would allow broadcasters to offer online services outside their country of origin – sits in the hands of the European Union’s Council of Ministers.

As the council considers the draft legislation, there is growing fear that the industry’s objections are being ignored. “Despite a totally united industry effort for many months, the concerns of the creative industries in Europe have not been heard or even taken into account,” said Martin Moszkowicz, at Germany’s Constantin, one of the country’s biggest film-tv companies.

Berlinale: HBO Takes U.S. Rights to ‘Inseparables,’ Argentina’s Remake of ‘The Untouchables’ (Exclusive)

2 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

HBO Latino has taken U.S. pay TV/Svod rights to “Inseparables,” the Argentine remake of Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache’s French dramedy hit “Intouchables.”

Deal was made by Guido Rud at FilmSharks Intl.

Combining key driving forces behind Latin America’s film sector – top U.S. broadcasters, Hollywood studios and the remake business – deal suggests that pay TV buyers can already put on the table, in some cases, higher figures than theatrical distributors.

Further new accords include Brazil (Paris Filmes), Central America (Wiesner Distribution), Greece (Spentzos Film), Turkey (Tanweer) plus Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia (Eurofilms).

Spain, Germany, France, Japan and Australia are under discussions, Rud said.

The Argentine version, produced by Luis Alberto Scalella’s Sono Film and Viacom’s broadcaster Telefé, was released in Argentina by Disney on Aug. 11, scoring a robust $1.8 million B.O. and 350,000 admissions.

The original “The Intouchables” grossed $427 million worldwide.

‘The Good Fight’: Christine Baranski and Partners Toast ‘Good Wife’ Spinoff at NY Premiere

2 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Christine Baranski was hard to miss on Wednesday evening at the premiere screening and party for “The Good Fight,” the spinoff of CBS’ beloved “The Good Wife” that is set to bow Feb. 19 on CBS All Access.

The star of “Good Fight” sparkled in a shimmery silver and black minidress that accentuated her long and lean frame and turned her into a walking spotlight at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall. The extra glow was fitting for the occasion because Baranski commands the stage in the spinoff that revolves around her Diane Lockhart character from “The Good Wife,” rebuilding her life after a series of unfortunate events befall the rock-ribbed legal eagle.

The first episode was well received by a roomful of “Good Wife” lovers. There was almost an audible sigh of relief when “Good Fight” quickly settled into the distinctive blend of drama and comedy that enlivened its predecessor for seven seasons.
