MISSION & OBJECTIVE
NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization designed to showcase innovative works by emerging filmmakers from around the world, providing the Los Angeles community of entertainment professionals and film goers with a constant surge of monthly screening events. NFMLA provides a forum where filmmakers can be recognized for their contributions, have open audience discussions about their projects and connect with industry professionals for insight on distribution, production, acquisition and representation.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
NewFilmmakers Los Angeles (NFMLA) was founded in 2007. NFMLA’s monthly festivals were first housed at the A+D Art and Architecture Museum on L.A.’s Miracle Mile. The festival soon outgrew this location, moving next to Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood where its head offices are still located and then to the 500 seat South Park Center theater in Downtown Los Angeles where NFMLA’s monthly festivals are held today.
With the goal of showcasing, supporting and connecting emerging filmmakers, NFMLA rapidly expanded to become much more than a monthly film festival. NFMLA regularly partners with organizations, companies, and film schools like SAG-AFTRA, the Producer’s Guild, Film Independent, Women in Film, Disney, TheWrap, Sony Pictures, DreamWorks, Fox Studios, MovieMaker Magazine, Variety, Film L.A., the City of Los Angeles, foreign consulates, and more to host an array of annual programs, workshops, panels, competitions, and learning and networking opportunities.
Our core program, the monthly film festival presents red carpet screenings of documentary, short and feature films that have been submitted from all over the world, followed by a Q&A with each films director. The program also offers a special after party so the audience can meet the filmmakers and incredible talent involved, and so that filmmakers can network and connect with each other.
Each year, NFMLA presents awards for the best films shown in the previous year’s film monthly festivals at an exclusive gala event.
All filmmakers featured in NFMLA film festivals are invited to participate in on camera interviews for MovieMaker Magazine.

We only notify of acceptance, however, please feel free to check in with us 3 months after your film has been submitted for an update on the status.
Please note the following: as is the industry standard among all festivals, in most instances we do not screen films that have already been posted online without password protection, though we do make exceptions on a case-by-case basis so please feel free to apply regardless.

NewFilmmakers is designed to showcase innovative work by filmmakers of all levels. All submissions are considered and welcomed.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
NewFilmmakers Los Angeles is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes.
The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.
The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless NewFilmmakers Los Angeles from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
By submitting your film to NewFilmmakers LA you commit to a public screening of your film with NewFilmmakers LA.
