Discs encoded as per specific regions will play only on compatible DVD players and on region free machines.
All DVD players intended for use in India support Region 5 and region free DVDs. Most of them are region free and are capable of playing DVDs with other region code encoding as well.
In case you are not sure whether your DVD player is region free, please check with the customer service of the manufacturer or the retailer from whom you purchased the DVD player.

There is no region coding in the existing HD DVD specification, which means that titles from any country can be played in players in any other country. The DVD region code identifies a DVD's compatibility with the players typically sold in a particular region.
