Trailer Lands for Night Moves Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard

29 March 2014 6:27 AM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning, and Peter Sarsgaard star as radical activists plotting to blow up Oregon’s Green Peter Dam in an act of environmental sabotage in this brand new trailer for Night Moves. The film will hit theaters on May 30.

Night Moves, the fifth feature film from filmmaker Kelly Reichardt, is the story of three radical environmentalists coming together to execute the most intense protest of their lives: the explosion of a hydroelectric dam—the very source and symbol of the energy-sucking, resource-devouring industrial culture they despise.

Harmon (Eisenberg) is a former Marine, radicalized by tours of duty overseas. His life in the military is behind him, but at heart he remains the same reckless alpha male he always was, eager for adventure, excited by the prospect of mayhem and destruction.

Dena (Fanning) is a high society dropout, sickened by the consumer economy into which she was born. She »

The trailer for the new thriller Night Moves doesn’t answer many questions.

The film, directed by Kelly Reichardt (Wendy and Lucy) and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning, and Peter Sarsgaard, centers on three environmentalists who plot to blow up a dam. (Man, Eisenberg’s eco-happy Modern Family character really took a turn!) As the plan unfolds, cracks begin to emerge among the trio and paranoia runs rampant. The first trailer showcases the movie’s eerie atmosphere, highlighting the gang’s deliberate decisions as well as the uncertainty they feel as their dangerous scheme progresses.

Trailer For Night Moves Creeps Online

27 March 2014 7:15 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Following her brilliant wagon-train Western Meek’s Cutoff, Kelly Reichardt’s latest project is Night Moves, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Skarsgard. With strong advance word from the festival circuit, the first trailer has just arrived online. As you’ll have gathered, Night Moves is an eco-thriller of sorts, but with an emphasis on slow-burning suspense rather than high-octane pyrotechnics. We wouldn’t really have expected the latter from the director who also gave us Wendy And Lucy. The plot here involves Eisenberg, Fanning and Skarsgard’s meticulous preparations to bomb a hydro-electric dam, but there are interpersonal problems among the trio, and their plan takes an unexpected turn…Empire’s own Damon Wise caught it in Venice last year, and pronounced it “an alt-thriller that ripples with tension, paranoia and atmosphere”.The polymath Reichardt wrote and edited in addition to her behind the camera duties. The Trailer For Kelly Reichardt's Night Moves Creates A Palpable Sense Of Paranoia

27 March 2014 4:30 PM, PDT | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

Those that have kept abreast of the American Indie scene the last 8 years or so, should know full well that Kelly Reichardt is a writer and director of considerable power, even when working in such minimalist aesthetics. While Old Joy, Wendy And Lucy, and Meek's Cutoff are wildly different films in subject matter -- from old friends on a sojourn, to a homeless young woman, and a group of lost settlers -- they all center around a certain kind of dispossessed feeling, that is somehow wholly American, and indeed very strange and unnerving. Her latest film, Night Moves, stars Jessee Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard as a trio of environmental activists who plan to blow up a dam. The film played to good...

Jesse Eisenberg and Dakota Fanning Plot the Death of a Dam in ‘Night Moves’ Trailer (Video)

27 March 2014 2:13 PM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Jesse Eisenberg has stolen the idea for a billion-dollar social network, dealt drugs and magically robbed banks on the big screen. But before audiences see him as the ultimate criminal mastermind, Lex Luthor, in “Batman Vs. Superman,” they'll see him plot to blow up a dam in the Cinedigm thriller, “Night Moves.” The first trailer (above) for the Kelly Reichardt (“Old Joy”) film about three hippies scheming to commit environmental terrorism previews lots of tension between Eisenberg's character, Josh Stamos (probably not related to John), and co-stars Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard. Jesse Eisenberg's Eco-Terrorism Thriller 'Night Moves' Gets Us Trailer

27 March 2014 1:41 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

After an international trailer for the indie that played festivals in Toronto and Venice arrived last week, the theatrical domestic trailer for Night Moves has arrived as well. Jesse Eisenberg stars in the film about three people (including Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard) who come together to bomb a hydroelectric dam. But the film ventures into the moral and ethical dilemmas they face, and seemingly the shifting dynamics among them, after their act of terror unfolds. It looks like a slow-burn, but surely a unique story with a tone that we might not otherwise get from a studio film. Maybe worth a look. Watch! Here's the Us trailer for Kelly Reichardt's Night Moves from Yahoo: Night Moves is directed by Kelly Reichardt and written by Jonathan Raymond, both of who collaborated on Wendy and Lucy and Meek's Cutoff. Watch: Atmospheric Trailer for 'Night Moves' Shows Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard Falling Apart

27 March 2014 11:52 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

A little less than a week after the release of the French trailer for "Night Moves," Cinedigm has followed it up with its American counterpart, and if anything, it's even more tense than the last one. "Night Moves" follows three radical environmentalists, leader Josh (Jesse Eisenberg), his loyal follower Dena (Dakota Fanning) and former Marine Harmon (Peter Sarsgaard), as they plan to blow up a hydroelectric dam. The three all want to restore power to nature, but when the question of collateral damage comes up, they're a little less in tune with each other. "Night Moves" was directed by the great neo-neo-realist director Kelly Reichardt, the filmmaker behind "Old Joy," "Wendy and Lucy" and "Meek's Cutoff," and debuted last fall at the Venice Film Festival before playing at Tiff. Reichardt co-wrote the film with frequent collaborator Jonathan Raymond, and the film looks to show the same kind of tightly-wound, slow-burning »

“Out past the cornfields where the woods got heavy / Out in the back seat of my '60 Chevy / Workin' on mysteries without any clues / Workin' on our night moves / Tryin' to make some front page drive-in news / Workin' on our night moves in the summertime.” Those are the lyrics of Bob Seger’s “Night Moves.” Night Moves, the upcoming film from acclaimed director Kelly Reichardt, isn’t about the song, but it’s not so far off from those lyrics, as the trailer suggests. Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning, and Peter Sarsgaard play radical environmentalists who come together to explode a hydroelectric dam. 27 March 2014 11:08 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

There are no turtles or tornadoes in this first look at Kelly Reichardt's thriller Night Moves, but it's a taut trailer nonetheless.  Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning, and Peter Sarsgaard star as three radical environmentalists who plan to put their ideologies to the test by conspiring to blow up a hydroelectric dam.  The trailer gives a great sense of the inherent danger in perpetrating such an act, not just for the renegades who fear being caught, but for the sense of mistrust that grows among them. Night Moves is due out on May 30th.  Hit the jump to watch the trailer. Watch: Dakota Fanning & Jesse Eisenberg Plan A Bombing In New Trailer For Kelly Reichardt's 'Night Moves'

27 March 2014 10:34 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Last week we got the international trailer, and now it all comes home today with a new domestic trailer for Kelly Reichardt's "Night Moves." And it dives into a world where trust is earned, and forever fragile, and where conviction is the biggest weapon of all. Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard, the film follows three people who come together to bomb a hydroelectric dam and delves into the moral and ethical dilemmas they face, and seemingly the shifting dynamics among them. As you might expect from Reichardt, it moves at its own pace, but the result is one where the tension is continually raised, with our review out of Venice calling the movie, "nail-biting" and one that nods favorably toward Alfred Hitchcock and Claude Chabrol in its construction. "Night Moves" opens on May 30th. Watch below. »

Emma Thompson: the A-lister who sets her own rules | the Observer profile

Fresh from a triumph in New York, one of our most extravagantly talented stars will soon unveil one of her most cherished projects to date, Effie, a film about John Ruskin – lawyers permitting.

It was only a matter of time until the BBC broadcast images of Emma Thompson's downstairs lavatory. The combination of her larky sense of humour and love of a theatrical flourish made it somehow inevitable. And so last month it came to pass. The actress, having been overlooked for an Oscar nomination, was televised at her home receiving a "Mark"; a golden statuette in the likeness of the Observer's film critic, which was offered in recognition of her screen portrayal of the author of Mary Poppins, Pamela Travers.

She was, Kermode said, "sheer perfection in the complex role of 'Mrs Pl', never allowing the author to descend into crotchety caricature, constantly suggesting a »

Kelly Reichardt’s Eco-Thriller ‘Night Moves’ Releases First Trailer

22 March 2014 5:16 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

He may have just been cast as the main villain Lex Luthor in the upcoming blockbuster Batman Vs. Superman but Jesse Eisenberg’s latest film sees him remaining in his indie roots. He leads acclaimed independent filmmaker Kelly Reichardt’s Night Moves. An intense, character-driven thriller that follows three environmental activists, played by Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and the brilliant Peter Sarsgaard, as their relationship begins to disintegrate during a plot to blow up a dam.

Like Reichardt’s Wendy & Lucy and Meek’S Cutoff, this personal effort looks beautifully shot with edge-of-your-seat tension cranking things up to a devastating conclusion. Night Moves hits limited cinemas from the 30th May and the UK 29th August.

‘Divergent’s’ Theo James a Fresh Hollywood Flame

Los Angeles (AP) — Most movies made from young-adult best-sellers feature dashing leading men and “Divergent” is no exception. Taylor and Liam step aside. Soulful Brit Theo James could be the next Ya obsession.

The star of the 2013 CBS police drama “Golden Boy” is relatively unknown on the big screen. But as the adaptation of Veronica Roth’s sci-fi novel hits theaters on Friday, that’s about to change.

“It’s extremely hard to quantify,” said James in a recent interview. “I’m a pessimist by nature, so I don’t believe something until someone has kind of punched me over the head with it.”

In “Divergent,” an action-thriller set in a dystopian future where everyone is divided into “factions” by their values, James plays the brave Tobias “Four” Eaton. Four dwells in the group named Dauntless and acts as a mentor and eventual love interest to heroine Tris (Shailene Woodley »

‘Night Moves’ Trailer: Jesse Eisenberg and Dakota Fanning Build a Bomb, Naturally

21 March 2014 1:00 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Kelly Reichardt, the director of Wendy and Lucy, Old Joy and Meek’s Crossing, is known for her collected and measured filmmaking, and her ability to attract fantastic talent to her projects (like Michelle Williams in two of the above mentioned). With her latest feature, Night Moves, those eerily calm undertones leftover from her previous work are still present, but the stakes are higher in a more nervewracking plot. Reichardt has again attracted a wealth of talent to star in her new film, this time gathering Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning and Peter Sarsgaard as a group of ecological activists (whatever you do, just don’t even think about calling them ecoterrorists — Sarsgaard isn’t too keen on that label) who hatch a plot to bomb a hydroelectric dam. The first (French-subtitled) trailer for Night Moves (which, if we’re being honest, sounds like a groovy dance flick about an up-and-comer in 1970s NYC and less like a »
