The new IMAX poster for Kong: Skull Island goes full on Apocalypse Now

Author: Jon Lyus

Earlier this week we had the news that Stranger Things’ Eleven, Millie Bobby Brown, had been cast in the forthcoming Godzilla King of Monsters film. Why this is important to this story is that she may well be meeting up with some of the stars (or rather, survivors) of Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ forthcoming monster movie Kong Skull Island. Legendary and Warner Bros. are building their stable of classic movie monsters, in order that in 2020 we see the ultimate battle with Godzilla Vs. Kong. With Godzilla returning to cinemas in 2019, we have Kong Skull Island far closer on the horizon, coming to cinemas next month.

Exclusive: The first look at Michael Keaton on the super sized new UK poster for The Founder

Author: Jon Lyus

John Lee Hancock has picked the perfect man to take us through the twisted history of one of the biggest corporations the world has seen. Micheal Keaton plays Ray Kroc in Hancock’s The Founder, a story of the man who took a fledgling fast food business and turned it into an empire. His dealings with the McDonald brothers, and his shrewd manoeuvering of control, make up the dark heart of this tale of the American Dream taken to extremes.

Keaton is great in the film, and will be seen next in the forthcoming Spider-Man Homecoming as Vulture. Director Hancock has a solid background in the cinematic weaving of true life tales with his previous work on  The Blind Side and Saving Mr. Banks.

We’ve got the exclusive first look at the poster the film will arrive with in the UK, and you can see that »

Joan Collins and Pauline Collins star in Trailer and Poster for The Time of Their Lives

Author: Zehra Phelan

In 2015, Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel stuck two fingers up at the film industry with the Paolo Sorrentino directed Youth. It proved to the whole industry just because you’ve reached a certain age doesn’t mean you’ve lost your talent or appeal to the movie going public. In fact over the last few years we have seen actors such as Michael Douglas, Morgan Freeman and Robert De Niro all prove they are all digging their heels in and not going anywhere.

Now it’s time for the ladies to get in on the act with Golden Globe-winner Dame Joan Collins – who we last saw make an appearance in last year’s Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie – Oscar nominee Pauline Collins (The Last Dragon Slayer, Albert Nobbs) and Italian heartthrob Franco Nero (Django, Django Unchained) all starring in the upcoming feel-good comedy, The Time of Their Lives »

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Review

Author: Stefan Pape

Since the very first Resident Evil film first graced our screens back in 2002, it’s fair to say that the zombie sub-genre has become somewhat tired in contemporary cinema, as audiences have been subject to an influx of productions, each attempting to put a new spin on a rather hackneyed concept. It’s not the fault of the Paul W.S. Anderson led franchise, but it still has an affect on their latest offering, as this title struggles to stand out from the crowd, tedious and uninspiring, suffocated by its very own lack of imagination.

Beginning soon after the events that took place in the preceding endeavour Resident Evil: Retribution, we rejoin Alice (Milla Jovovich), who seems to be the lone survivor of the viral infection which wiped out humanity. Strong willed, and kicking the crap out of the undead on a daily basis, she is presented with a message, »

Despite the controversy that has surrounded him in the last decade or so, it seems Mel Gibson is well and truly on the comeback trail in Hollywood. His latest film, Hacksaw Ridge, has been a big success across the globe and was rewarded last week with an Academy Award nomination for Best Director alongside his star Andrew Garfield, nominated for Best Actor (read our review here).

Now it seems Gibson could be about the jump back in front of the camera if new rumours are to be believed. Deadline is reporting that the Braveheart star is being courted for a role in the upcoming comedy sequel Daddy’s Home 2, which would see him star alongside the returning duo of Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, reprising their roles as Brad and Dusty respectively.

Gold Review

31 January 2017 6:15 AM, PST

Author: Scott Davis

A couple of years ago, a cinematic event happened so wondrous, so monumental that you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing about it. That event was The McConaissance, the return from rom-com and failed blockbuster obscurity of Texas’ finest Matthew McConaughey. Freed from the shackles of getting his shirt off and romancing some of Hollywood’s finest actresses, McConaughey excelled in Mud, Killer Joe, True Detective and his Oscar-winning turn in Dallas Buyers Club.

But since that celebratory evening, the actor has found his subsequent projects fall a little short (Free State of Jones and The Sea of Trees flopped), but it’s with great relish (and relief) then to say that Gold is his return to top form – and the realms of “method” – with a superb performance that is one of the best of the year.

The film is based on the true story of Richard and Mildred Loving (Joel Edgerton and Negga), a young couple who were married in 1958 in Washington DC. They actually lived in Virginia but due to anti-miscegenation laws they had to leave the state in order for their marriage to be considered legal, but on their return home they are arrested and sentenced to a year in prison. Diego Luna is set to star in the Scarface reboot, but director Antoine Fuqua is out

31 January 2017 5:13 AM, PST

Author: Jon Lyus

The latest remake of Scarface has been on the cards for about five years. Martin Bregman, one of the producers of the classic 1983 Al Pacino film, has been working with Universal to develop a new interpretation of the legend and today it was announced that Rogue One’s Diego Luna has been cast in the lead role.

The actor will next be seen in another re-make-quel-boot, Niels Arden Oplev’s new version of Flatliners with Nina Dobrev, Kiefer Sutherland and Ellen Page. Universal’s new Scarface film should propel Luna to a new, wider audience however there’s a good chance Antoine Fuqua won’t be directing him. Variety report that plans to move ahead with a sequel for the 2014 film The Equalizer are moving ahead very quickly, and the desire for a quick sequel has caused conflict in the scheduling.

Peter Capaldi announces he is leaving Doctor Who – but here are five reasons to watch Series Ten

31 January 2017 3:44 AM, PST

Author: Reuben Roper

Doctor Who fans woke up to the news this morning that Peter Capaldi, the show’s twelfth incarnation of The Doctor, is leaving the show. His departure is not entirely unexpected, as it coincides with the exit of the showrunner Steven Moffat, who has been with the show since Matt Smith took over the role.

It is bittersweet ending for Capaldi’s Doctor, who had to follow the double act of the aforementioned Smith and David Tennant. The show struggled to find its feet with Capaldi initially, however under Capaldi’s reign the show has seen some of its finest hours. We loved his entanglements with Missy, and his one man show Heaven Sent from Series Nine is one of the best episodes of the show’s entire run.
