Tamron Hall has left NBC News, after becoming the most high-profile flotsam and jetsam of the division’s hire of Megyn Kelly — who is getting, among other things, the third hour of Today that Hall co-hosted.
It was the Hall talks that led NBC News to inform Today staff of its Kelly-related 9 AM shakeup. Hall had to be told last week, because her contract was coming up and her reps were in talks with the news division. Last week, a source reported that the news division hoped she would stick around, continuing to appear on Today‘s mothership 7-9 AM show and hosting MSNBC Live with Tamron Hall. Though Hall has exited, Al Roker will continue to host at 9 AM until Kelly joins the lineup in the fall.
NBC News made Hall’s exit official:
Tamron Hall will be leaving NBC News and MSNBC when her contract expires this month. Yesterday was her last day as an anchor on both networks. Tamron is an exceptional journalist, we valued and enjoyed her work at TODAY and MSNBC and hoped that she would decide to stay. We are disappointed that she has chosen to leave, but we wish her all the best.
Tamron joined MSNBC and NBC in 2007, and became part of the TODAY team in 2014. She has also worked passionately to bring awareness to domestic violence, highlighting the issue on her show “Deadline Crime, with Tamron Hall.” She earned an Edward R. Murrow Award for a story that aired on NBC News, and an Emmy in 2010 as a member of NBC News’ live inauguration coverage.
Al Roker will continue to co-host TODAY’s Take at 9am weekdays until a new morning lineup begins in the Fall of 2017.
Tamron asked that we share the following. “The last ten years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m grateful. I’m also very excited about the next chapter. To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you.”
Is it some kind of unspoken rule at NBC that every Today Show personnel issue needs to be handled in the worst possible manner?
The today show female viewer will not relate to this harsh character. She does not project the best friend niceness that keeps us listening. As per… Klg and hoda, Meredith viera, Kelly ripa, Natalie morales.
She gives off the evil twin mean girls vibe.
Sort of like a smart alec knowitall director.

Too bad for NBC, Tamron is so talented and has great audience appeal. Not sure Megyn Kelly is as appealing to viewers, but time will tell. Sad to see her go, but I’m sure she will land somewhere.

I actually think just the opposite. She seems like a smart, solid newswoman when she anchors the MSNBC hour. She’s a good interviewer and thinks on her feet. It’s when she has to make “happy talk” on The Today Show where she just gets on my last nerve… with her constant interrupting, cutesy faces, and laughing at her own jokes.

When you step back and consider Anne Curry, N. Morales and now Tamara, it appears that ethnic women are having a difficult time on the network.
Well it didn’t take too long to blame it on racism…If I were still a viewer of the Today show, I would be upset however, I stopped watching once it became too obvious how biased Matt is…One of the personalities I did miss was Tamron Hall I loved the way she dressed, she was always smiling, and I thought handled her stories well….Ironically when I watched Fox news, I never watched MK I thought she was all wrong for her time slot. She dressed very inappropriately for a news woman…Low cut etc. Tamron wore buttoned up but cutting edge there’s a big difference…Granted cloths aren’t the most important but it certainly is a draw to get you in….

I really enjoyed Tamron on the Today Show as well as MSNBC and am very disappointed that NBC couldn’t figure out a way to keep a popular and intelligent woman as part of their large roster of reporters. I wish her well and look forward to where she lands.
From the story, it appears they did want (and try) to keep her, but she decided to leave. Understandable decision, but she wasn’t fired. She was being replaced on one of the THREE shows she hosted for NBC owned stations (MSNBC, Today and the crime show on Discovery ID.)

Multiple personalities on camera, surely caught up in how good she thought she was……now having said that ….she was a beautiful woman and was a good news reader……not great but steady….and PS: she never met a dress with a freakin’ bow on it that she didn’t like…..she will land on her feet no doubt…..

This was A BIG MISTAKE. TAMRON HALL is beyond excellent when presenting the News. Her expertise as Anchor, Journalists, and Analyst is evident through her many accomplishments on both NBC and MSNBC. Her ability to also embodied a presence that allows everyone from celebrities to the everyday person to feel a connection to the issues being presented. The 3rd hour is supposed to stimulate thought and present a platform in which to have an open mind, learn, laugh, and yes show that the NEWS is not ALWAYS D^Doom and GLOOM`. Megan Kelly is also an excellent Anchor in her own right, however don’t forget that your `MESSENGERS SHOULD BE JUST AS DIVERSE AS YOUR RECEIVERS`-
Perhaps you will follow her like you are following other people who left NBC against their will: Anne Curry, Deborah Norville and Bryant Gumbel.
When Megyn Kelly joins NBC and MSNBC I will block their broadcasting on my TV. I will not keep watching as each news channel takes a turn to the hard right of fear, hate, and bigotry. I blocked CNN because of people like Jeff Lord.

Nooooooo!Please tell me this isn’t’ so. Tamron was such a bright spot in my mornings. She is a professional through and through and made me laugh on so many occasions. I wish her total success and much happinesses going forward. I am confident Tamron will land somewhere quickly as I am sure any of the big news outlets are ready to snatch her up and many viewers will follow her.
