After being recruited to a secretive academy, a group of students discover that the magic they read about as children is very real and more dangerous than they ever imagined. But will getting hooked on the thrill of magic distract them from honing their powers when they need them most?
Minor spoilers ahead.
In the first half of the first season, you feel like you are watching the wet dreams of some high school-undergraduate frp nerd who is too old for harry potter but still wants to masturbate off to some magical fantasy dream. You will encounter episodes where the only way to cast a spell correctly is for two people to have sex and have an orgasm at the same time. So yeah...
But then comes the second half...The transition from stupid wet dreams to tentacle grade psychoticness is really sudden. The fact that the first half of the season has completely destroyed any expectations about getting something intelligible or serious only enhances this effect. And when the first season ends, the only thought you can manage to muster is "What the f*** did I just watch?".
TL;DR: If you think you can make your way through few episodes of adolescent crap then it is definitely worth a shot
