‘Room’ Star Jacob Tremblay Joins Xavier Dolan’s ‘Death and Life of John F. Donovan’

Jacob Tremblay has joined the cast of Xavier Dolan’s drama “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan” with shooting underway in Montreal.

Seville International is selling to international markets at the Berlin Film Festival. Tremblay will star alongside Kit Harington, Jessica Chastain, Natalie Portman, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates.

Principal photography will continue in Prague, the U.K. and New York. “John F. Donovan” stars Harrington an American TV star in his late twenties and his correspondence with a young actor-to-be, played by Tremblay, who is living with his mother (Portman) in England. Their lives take dramatic turns when the existence of their pen pal relationship is publicly exposed, sending Donovan in a downfall.

“The talent involved in this project is unparalleled,” said Anick Poirier of Seville International.  “Xavier is a visionary and he has proven once again that he attracts first class actors by adding Tremblay to this superb ensemble. »

Tony Winner Cynthia Erivo to Star in Harriet Tubman Biopic

Cynthia Erivo is set to star in an independent Harriet Tubman biopic, tentatively titled  “Harriet.”

Producers are Charles D. King’s through his Marco company, Debra Martin ChaseDaniela Taplin Lundberg, Kim Roth and Gregory Allen Howard. Macro, New Balloon and Stay Gold Features are financing.

Seith Mann is directing.

The film will the portray the life of Tubman as slave, abolitionist, Underground Railroad conductor, nurse, spy and warrior. Producers plan to begin shooting later this year.

Executive producers are Poppy Hanks, New Balloon’s Elizabeth Koch and Kristina Kendall, Nnamdi Asomugha and Bill Benenson.

Erivo won a Tony award, Drama Desk award, Theatre World award and Outer Critics Circle award for her performance in “The Color Purple” on Broadway. She’s been nominated for a 2017 Grammy and will perform at Sunday’s show.

Aubrey Plaza, Emile Hirsch to Star in Indie Comedy ‘An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn’

Aubrey Plaza, Emile Hirsch, Jemaine Clement, Craig Robinson and Matt Berry are starring in the independent comedy “An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn,” which has launched production in Eureka, Calif.

The Greasy Strangler” director Jim Hosking is helming from a script he co-wrote with David Wike. Park Pictures, Wigwam Films and Rook Films are the production companies.

UTA Independent Group is representing the North America sale. Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales at the Berlin Film Festival.

The story follows Lulu Danger’s unsatisfying marriage taking a turn for the worse when a mysterious man from her past comes to town to perform an event called “An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn; For One Magical Night Only.”

‘Legion’ Premiere: The 9 Moments That Make It a Masterpiece

In terms of plot, the “Legion” premiere isn’t hard to summarize. David Haller (Dan Stevens) is committed to a mental institution after trying to kill himself. There, he falls in love with Syd Barrett (Rachel Keller), a woman who believes David’s “sickness” is what makes him special. But David might not actually be sick. He may have telekinetic and telepathic powers, and when Syd is allowed to leave and he isn’t, David uses those powers to get back to her.
