7 Steps to Publishing with CRC Press

Step 1: Write Your Book Proposal

Download the CRC Press book publishing proposal form (.doc), and answer the questions as completely as possible. Your book publishing proposal form, and any supporting materials, will be reviewed by in-house staff and advisory editors, who maintain strict standards of confidentiality. The information provided also may be reviewed by peers in your field in consideration of contract approval. On the book publishing proposal form, you are able to suggest the names of three to five peers whose subject-area expertise may help facilitate our review process.

Step 2: Submit Your Book Proposal

Send your completed book publishing proposal form, and any supporting materials, to the appropriate CRC Press acquiring editor for your subject area. If you are unable to determine the best editorial contact for your book's subject matter, please send your proposal information to:

Step 3: Obtain Approval of Your Book Proposal

Once you submit your book proposal, it undergoes review. First, a subject-appropriate CRC Press acquiring editor will give your book proposal careful consideration. If your book proposal meets CRC Press' criteria for quality, relevance, and marketability, the acquiring editor submits the proposal for peer review by experts in your field who will offer their opinions on the potential strengths and weaknesses of your proposal, including its importance to the field.

If it is determined that your book has the potential to be mutually profitable and is seen as advancing your field or promoting education within its field, approval is granted and a contract is tendered.

Step 4: Sign the Contract for Your Book

Read over the contract carefully. Your CRC Press acquiring editor will discuss the terms with you and is able to answer any questions you might have.

The contract outlines responsibilities and obligations, both yours and ours. One essential obligation is that you keep your date commitments. Any requested changes in the schedule should be taken up with your CRC Press acquiring editor as soon as possible.

Step 5: Prepare Your Book Manuscript

The goal is to prepare a book manuscript that is clear, to the point, and allows for an easy transition to production. Following are guidelines for preparing the text and art for your manuscript:

Authored Disk (Typeset) Manuscripts:

LaTeX-Formatted Manuscripts:

Camera-Ready Manuscripts:

Step 6: Submit Your Book Manuscript
