#TBT Today we celebrate the 125th birthday of #BessieColeman, the first African-American/Native-American woman to earn a pilot’s license. In the 1920 Census, Bessie was one of 33,091 women employed as a barber, hairdresser, or manicurist. The next year, she traveled to Paris and on June 15, 1921, she joined the eight women already employed as “aeronauts.” Known as “Queen Bess,” she gained fame as a skilled and daring pilot who gained the respect of the entire aviation community. Coleman and her mechanic, William Wells, died on April 30, 1926 when an unsecured wrench jammed the gearbox. See her 1920 Census record and learn more about aviation with Census #data here: http://go.usa.gov/x97vP

In few days, I’ll introduce FAMICITY to the world via a worldwide crowdfunding campaign. I’ll need the help of every person who loves his/her family and wants to share this same vision.
