Ready to make a difference? Training the social workers, family support workers and community project managers of the future.

Our social and community studies courses will give you the skills you’ll need to reach out to people in need, whether that be the young, the elderly, families or individuals. You’ll be fully prepared to effectively support others thanks to our focus on real world learning. Placements will educate and inspire you, and our inter-professional learning approach will give you the opportunity to work alongside a range of health care and other professionals - realistic preparation for your working life after graduation.

This is Social, Community and Youth Work

  • BA (Hons) Applied Social Work is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) meaning you’ll be eligible to apply to register as a qualified social worker when you graduate
  • You’ll gain the National Youth Agency professional qualification in youth work on our BA (Hons) Working with Young People and Communities (Youth Work pathway). This will strengthen your CV and help you to stand out in the job market
  • Our expert teaching staff have a wealth of experience in the sector and will guide and support you every step of the way. The 2016 National Student Survey revealed that 91% of our BA (Hons) Health and Social Care students were satisfied overall with the course and 90% of our BA (Hons) Working with Young People and Communities were satisfied overall
  • We’ve worked with key service providers in both health and social care settings, both statutory and voluntary, with service users and other stakeholders to create courses that ensure that you’ll gain the skills needed to work in the sector
  • Being work-ready is our focus. We support you to apply your learning to real situations meaning that you will be fully prepared to be able to make a positive impact on the delivery of services, changes in policy and practice at an individual, family and societal level.
