Benefits of part-time study

Flexible study

Study in a flexible way, without it affecting your lifestyle. Studying at a time and place that suits you - during the day or in the evening and at a convenient location - either at one of our Campuses or online with University of Derby Online Learning (UDOL).

Up-skilling and re-skilling

The modern workplace is competitive so stand out from the crowd and gain a professional qualification whilst working. Improve your career prospects or pursue a passion and develop skills in a new area to open up new opportunities.

Affordable learning

If you are studying an undergraduate course part-time fees are charged by module, and if you’re paying for yourself we make it easier for you by automatically spreading the cost of your course over equal payments across the academic year. Government loans to cover tuition fees are also available for undergraduate part-time students. Find more information on fees and finance.

Expert teaching

Derby is a Top 20 university for teaching quality. Many of our lecturers still work part-time in their field so you know their skills are up to date and reflect latest developments in their area.

What do our graduates say?

Lynsey Buxton studied for a BA (Hons) Business Management degree on a part-time basis and has never looked back. “I’d definitely recommend the University of Derby to those interested in progressing their education – especially through the part-time route. I studied at the same time as working full-time, developing my career whilst applying my learning to the business environment”. Read Lynsey’s full story.
