WASHINGTON—Congress on Friday counted the votes cast in December by the Electoral College, certifying Republican Donald Trump’s election as the next president of the U.S.
Mr. Trump, who will be sworn in on Jan. 20 at the U.S. Capitol, was affirmed the winner of the November general election in a joint session of the House of Representatives and Senate presided over by Vice President Joe Biden.
