What's New in Version 8.3

Thank you for upgrading to the latest version of the WSJ app. In our 8.3 release, we have restored the ability to look up the definition of any word in WSJ articles (make sure your device has a dictionary installed via the iOS settings app), made updates to our push notification categories, and included a "skip ad" button on our video player to more quickly access our video content.

We have also introduced our daily WSJ news quiz, available every weekday morning in our Top Stories section. You can submit your score every day to the Game Center leaderboard to compare your performance with other quiz-takers!

Finally, we improved the performance of our saved articles section and fixed a few bugs that were causing the app to crash for certain readers trying to share WSJ articles.

This version builds on our 8.0 release, which included major improvements to how the app brings you the latest news. On iPhone and in the iPad Latest News section, the app will automatically update with new stories without you having to tap for them. Be sure to have background updating turned on in your iOS settings to help ensure the latest news is ready for you when you open the app.

On iPad, more Latest News sections are now available both in the page-top navigation and by swiping to the right.

Thank you for your continued feedback. More improvements are on the way, and please use the "Email customer support" link on our settings screen to let us know of any questions or problems you encounter.

Was good, becoming more biased

I started reading the journal because one of my professors used their business articles to bring up critical thinking points at the beginning of each class. One thing I liked about it was it seemed like from the business section it was completely unbiased which is how I'd like to get my news. Just give me the facts. Lately however, I can't help but notice all of the opinion articles are written with extreme bias often not taking into account context or facts or exploits them to the viewpoint the writer or his boss wants to skew favor for, similar to what Fox News does except it lists it as opinion. Either way, I refuse to support a news outlet who instead of just providing me with the objective facts insists on either trying to brainwash people by writing completely biased articles or is pandering to people looking to reaffirm their own bias for page views. These things compromise the integrity of journalism which seems to be an alarming trend, and is dangerous considering it is how people get information to make decisions. Will not be continuing my subscription any longer, at least until these unethical journalism practices continue.

Used to be 5 star

App has become 'buggy' over time. Definitions feature appears to have been eliminated - I really loved that feature. New edition dialogue box rarely ever works. Ads often don't load (not that I want a lot of ads, but swiping blank screens is an annoyance.) New editions page rarely loads correctly - I know where daily edition should be on screen and selecting the outline of new edition works to open edition, but all of these items used to work. Still read every day and enjoy the overall functionality of the app. Light years ahead of the HBR app, which is downright awful and should be an embarrassment to a fine publication.

A great way to get the news

The WSJ app is easy to use and displays the highlights for each news section. Access is quick, has a section for breaking news which is constantly updated.

I have been very reluctant to pay for news while there is so much available on the internet for for free I kept finding many articles I wanted to read were from the WSJ so I send up for an introductory offer. I find their reporting to be even handed which is sorely missing other places.

I intend to keep my subscription going as it is worth the price for their paper.
