Is There a Best New Artist Curse? Here's What Happened to These 25 Grammy Winners

This year's Grammy nominees for best new artist are Kelsea Ballerini, The Chainsmokers, Chance the Rapper, Maren Morris, and Anderson .Paak - it's undoubtedly going to be a heated race for the coveted award, whose past recipients include household names like The Beatles, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, and Maroon 5. While those musicians' careers are still firmly intact, there are a handful of other best new artist winners who haven't fared so well (for example, Paula Cole once asked us, "Where have all the cowboys gone?" but now we're just left wondering where she's gone). In honor of the upcoming show, we're looking into the status of some of the past best new artist award winners. Keep reading to see what's become of them, and let us know whether you think they've avoided a curse or not. Related:Blast From the Past: Here's What the Grammys Looked Like 10 Years »

The 1 Annoying Problem With James McAvoy's Character in Split

This week, M. Night Shyamalan unleashes his latest chilling foray into the cinematic world. Titled Split, it focuses on the disturbing life of a man named Kevin (James McAvoy) and the 23 different, unique personalities that inhabit his body. With such a daunting task at hand, it takes a truly remarkable actor to embody so many different character types without going a little overboard. So, the question becomes, how does McAvoy fare in the film? The answer, we're pleased to share, is pretty damn well. So well, in fact, that I'd argue there's no shred of the actor himself in any of the people he conjures up. Throughout the course of the film, McAvoy embodies a whopping total of eight different characters. Most predominantly, we deal with Miss Patricia and Dennis. The former is a cold, calculating British woman who feigns empathy for the abducted girls (played by Anya-Taylor Joy, Haley Lu Richardson, »

Logan and Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) are still around, and must team up to protect Laura, a young mutant (Dafne Keen). In the comic books, Laura is Logan's clone-daughter, also referred to as X-23. Whether the movie will follow the exact events of the books, we don't yet know. »

Steve Carell Just Pulled the Biggest Michael Scott Move Ever

Image Source: Everett Collection Yesterday, Steve Carell tweeted something that momentarily rocked the world of The Office fans everywhere: Breaking News: "The Office" returning to NBC. - Steve Carell (@SteveCarell) January 18, 2017 Could it be true? Was the "World's Best Boss" finally making a comeback to TV? No. Because in total Michael Scott fashion, the "typo" was corrected. Wait, sorry. I meant "Will and Grace" (Typo) - Steve Carell (@SteveCarell) January 18, 2017 On Wednesday, NBC announced Will & Grace would be making a comeback . . . so Carell played off the frenzy by trolling us further. He blamed the "hack" on his former colleague Toby Flenderson. My account was hacked by Toby Flenderson. - Steve Carell (@SteveCarell) January 19, 2017 So much for the revival of TV's greatest love story there ever was. (We're looking at you, Pam and Jim.) It's going to take a moment to cope. And we may never trust again. But, we're Fine. »

The full cast also includes Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa - who looked crazy-cool on the set - Bryan Cranston as Zordon, and Bill Hader as the voice of Alpha 5. The movie will be out March 24! »

Troye Sivan Releases a Moving and Unapologetically Gay Music Video For "Heaven"

"Without losing a piece of me, how will I get to Heaven?" The question, contained in the lyrics of Troye Sivan's new single, is the thesis of the song. Taken from Sivan's debut album, Blue Neighbourhood, it dwells on the prospect of reconciling one's sexual identity with conservative religious beliefs. The song has a power of its own, but to add even more impact to the music video, Sivan and director Luke Gilford imbued it with clips of historical footage from Lgbtq history. We see moments from Lgbtq marches, protests, and rallies. We see loving gay couples from other decades and other generations. And we see Sivan in the arms of another man. The video is a lot less subtle than something along the lines of Sia's powerful music video for "The Greatest," which paid tribute to the victims of the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando. Split: You Need to Be Looking For This Cameo to Spot It

Split has started 2017 on a great note for horror movies. Tense and thought-provoking, the thriller is M. Night Shyamalan's best work in years. While there's one very obvious cameo at the end of the film, you may miss the one embedded in the middle. Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley) wants to see how Barry/Dennis/Kevin (James McAvoy, who has too many alternate identities to list out) leaves the building after their session, so she has the maintenance man pull up the security camera footage. And just who plays that maintenance man? Writer/director Shyamalan! He's actually billed as "Jai, Hooters Lover" on IMDb, which I personally find hilarious. It's status quo for the director to appear in his own movies; he's played bit parts in nearly all of them, dating back to 1992's Praying With Anger. You may remember seeing him as Dr. Hill in The Sixth Sense or »

The Trailer For Netflix's JonBenét Ramsey Documentary Will Send Chills Down Your Spine

After the viral success of Netflix's Making a Murderer, the streaming giant is dipping its toes back into true crime for an in-depth look at the infamous, unsolved murder of JonBenét Ramsey with Casting JonBenet. It's been 21 years since the 6-year-old beauty queen was found murdered in her family home, but interest in her death has far from waned. In 2016, a number of TV specials aired about her, but Netflix's feature-length documentary - which has the same slick, stylized, look its docs are becoming known for - is a hybrid of fiction and nonfiction filmmaking that took place over the course of 15 months in Ramsey's Colorado hometown. It aims to figure out why this crime's legacy continues to capture the nation's attention, and the first trailer features a JonBenét lookalike who asks the camera, "Do you know who killed JonBenét Ramsey?" It will leave you unsettled, to say the least. »

Wolverine Is the World's Most Badass Babysitter in the Bloody New Trailer For Logan

After all of the sequels, prequels, and sequels to the prequels, the timeline in the X-Men franchise has become as confusing as it gets. In the first few trailers for Logan, it seems like they're tweaking things yet again. The trailers hint at a very bold tonal shift from the first few films featuring the reluctant, metal-claw-wielding superhero, coming off more as a gritty drama than an X-Men movie. Regardless, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Charles Xavier (Sir Patrick Stewart) - who are both looking way, way older than usual - are hiding out on the Mexican border in a time when most mutants have disappeared (so . . . far in the future?), and they have a pint-sized, silent sidekick in tow, who's being pursued by a shady government agency (as always, right?). "She's like you," Professor X tells Logan. "She's very much like you." See what happens when Logan meets his match »
