Clint Eastwood’s ‘Sully’ Will Be First Film Shot Nearly Entirely With IMAX Cameras

15 hours ago | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

We’ve seen Hollywood’s top tentpole-makers utilize IMAX cameras to film a portion of their movies with the epic format. Christopher Nolan did it with his last two Dark Knight entries, Interstellar, and will do so with the forthcoming Dunkirk. J.J. Abrams had a portion of Star Wars: The Force Awakens filmed solely with the large-format cameras, and this year Zack Snyder shot roughly 25 minutes of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice while the Russo brothers did just a bit more in Captain America: Civil War. However, there has yet to be an entire Hollywood feature to take the bold technical leap of filming entirely with the cameras — until this fall.

While the Russos plan to shoot the two-part Avengers: Infinity War solely in 2D Digital IMAX starting later this year, none other than Clint Eastwood, coming off the highest-grossing domestic release of 2014 with American Sniper, will be the »

"The Magnificent Seven" Starring Denzel Washington: Teaser Trailer Is Released

21 hours ago | Cinemaretro.com | See recent CinemaRetro news »

By Lee Pfeiffer

For fans of "The Magnificent Seven", the sands in the hourglass have finally run out. Since the mid-1990s, there have been attempts by studio executives to bring director John Sturges' classic 1960 Western back to the big screen. There was a reasonably popular TV series based on the film that aired in the 1990s but no big screen feature film ever went into production- until now. We realize it is irresponsible to judge a film simply on the basis of its trailer. However, it is appropriate to judge the trailer on its own merits. Suffice it to say that the trailer for the new big screen version of "The Magnificent Seven" stinks-- on ice.  First, it's cut in the same style that virtually every action movie trailer now follows. It's as though the creators of these trailers are in arrested development from the era of  when »

First Trailer for The Magnificent Seven Packs a Punch

20 April 2016 7:35 AM, PDT | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

I feel like I've been reading about this remake of The Magnificent Seven for year now, so it's weird to finally see a trailer for it. The action packed "remake" of the 1960 John Sturges western - itself a American re-telling of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai" - tells the tale of a small group of gunslingers who are hired to protect a town from marauders.

Denzel Washington leads the Anton Fuqua directed flick, which also reunites with Ethan Hawke. rounding out the ensemble cast is superstar Chris Pratt, Vincent D’Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier and Haley Bennett.

Synopsis:

With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection fro [Continued ...] »

First 'The Magnificent Seven' Trailer: Denzel and Pratt Lead a Few Good 'Strays'

20 April 2016 7:18 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

When Chris Pratt isn't acting as guardian of the galaxy (and dinosaurs), he protects the Old West. Based on the first trailer for "The Magnificent Seven" remake, Pratt is bringing the same winking charm to his role as gambler Josh Farraday, opposite Denzel Washington as the leader of the new Seven.

The original "The Magnificent Seven" came out in 1960, starring Yul Brynner, Eli Wallach, Steve McQueen, Horst Buchholz, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter, and James Coburn. That film was itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1954 masterpiece "Seven Samurai." This new Western sticks with the concept of wrangling a bunch of "strays" to help protect a town, but with a more diverse cast (of men, anyway).

Here's the synopsis from Sony:

"Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures' and Columbia Pictures' The Magnificent Seven. With the town of Rose Creek under »

‘The Magnificent Seven’ Trailer: Denzel Washington & Chris Pratt Deliver Bad-Ass Justice

20 April 2016 6:49 AM, PDT | Deadline | See recent Deadline news »

Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt look like they’re having a lot of fun in the teaser of Antoine Fuqua’s reimagining of classic Western The Magnificent Seven for MGM and Columbia. Washington has a lot more hair than Yul Brynner did in the original but looks just as capable to delivering justice. Pratt also seems just as comfortable in britches and spurs as he does in space with a Walkman, bringing his by-now trademark enthusiasm to his moonshine-drinking gunslinger. With… »

‘The Magnificent Seven’: Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt Want Revenge in First Trailer

20 April 2016 6:28 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

The titular outlaws are out for revenge in the first trailer for Antoine Fuqua’s “The Magnificent Seven” remake, which arrived online on Wednesday.

Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Martin Sensmeier star as the seven men enlisted by the desperate town of Rose Creek to take down Peter Sarsgaard’s merciless killer. They soon find themselves fighting for more than just the money.

“I seek righteousness, but I’ll take revenge,” Haley Bennett’s character tells Washington’s bounty hunter Sam Chisolm after her husband is murdered.

“We’re decent people being driven from our homes, slaughtered in cold blood,” she tells Chisolm, who then assembles his band of honorable mustachioed gunslingers.

Pratt’s gambler Josh Farraday asks Chisolm if the job is difficult. “It’s impossible,” Chisolm responds.

Antoine Fuqua Assembles The Magnificent Seven In Style With Riotous First Trailer

20 April 2016 6:21 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Once those dusty first images emerged, blinking into the sunlight, just yesterday, we knew it was only a matter of time before Sony and MGM premiered the first trailer for The Magnificent Seven remake.

And sure enough, today brings forth our first peek at Antoine Fuqua’s (The Equalizer) western in motion, showcasing stand-offs, tense camaraderie and a collection of dastardly gunslingers all fighting for the same cause. Upon crossing paths with Haley Bennett’s distressed villager, Denzel Washington’s Sam Chisolm catches wind of unhinged industrialist Bartholomew Bogue, spurring him into action to protect the denizens of Rose Creek.

He can’t do it alone, however, and in his plight he assembles half a dozen vigilantes – a so-called “bunch of strays” – to ward off the oncoming threat of Bogue and his men on horseback. Among that crack team are Chris Pratt as wisecracking gunslinger Josh Farraday, Ethan Hawke, a bearded Vincent D’Onofrio, »

Boom! First Trailer for Antoine Fuqua's 'The Magnificent Seven' Starring Denzel Washington

20 April 2016 5:15 AM, PDT | ShadowAndAct | See recent ShadowAndAct news »

Remember the Denzel Washington meme that was so popular last year, in which he had a mustache and sideburns, wearing a black baseball cap, and showing his pearly whites? This is what he was filming at the time, which explains his look in the photo that so many had a lot fun making memes out of. Antoine Fuqua and Denzel Washington are teaming up again for MGM's long-in-development remake of "The Magnificent Seven" (the 1960 American western directed by John Sturges, which itself was a remake of Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai"). As recently as 2012, Tom Cruise was attached to star in the remake, although, at the time, there was no director »

First Trailer For ‘The Magnificent Seven’ Starring Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, and More

20 April 2016 3:45 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Continuing his one-film-a-year streak, following Olympus Has Fallen, The Equalizer, and Southpaw, director Antoine Fuqua‘s latest feature finds him remaking a western classic — itself a remake of a landmark Akira Kurosawa film. Yes, this fall we’ll be getting a new take on The Magnificent Seven, and today we have the first trailer.

Led by Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Lee Byung-hun, Manuel Garcia Rulfo, Martin Sansmeier, Haley Bennett, Peter Sarsgaard, and more, Fuqua has assembled quite a diverse cast for the project. This first preview is certainly a slick one, even though we’re not quite sure yet another remake has us all that interested. Nonetheless, the chemistry of the cast should make it worth checking out. See the trailer below, along with new images.

The Magnificent Seven opens on September 23rd.

Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt star in the remake of The Magnificent Seven. Here's the first trailer...

Just to prove that remakes are nothing new, John Sturges' The Magnificent Seven was a remake of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai - and in a rare alignment of creativity, they're both brilliant.

Training Day and The Equalizer director Antoine Fuqua's behind the new remake of Sturges' western, which places Chris Pratt, Denzel Washingtonin the saddle as a group of gunmen defending a village from vicious bandits. Fuqua will have to work hard to reach the classic heights of the original, but it has to be said that Washington looks very cool with his sideburns and hat.

Here's the first trailer, which really plays up the gunsmokin' action.

The Magnificent Seven is out in UK cinemas on the 23rd September.

First Look Photos: Antoine Fuqua's 'The Magnificent Seven' Remake

19 April 2016 1:49 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Ready to meet another line-up of Magnificent Seven? Sony has released four new first look photos for the upcoming remake of The Magnificent Seven, directed by Antoine Fuqua. The new "seven" this time are: Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Martin Sensmeier. The first shot below shows all of them lined up together, but the main two characters are Denzel and Pratt, who also have some photos together. I don't have a problem with the cast, I have a problem with remaking a remake and doing this story all over again. They already remade Kurosawa's Seven Samurai into the original Magnificent Seven and it's a damn fine film, no need to repeat that all over again, but that's Hollywood. Are you ready for a remake of a remake? USA Today has released the first pictures from Antoine Fuqua‘s remake of “The Magnificent Seven,” which itself was a Western remake of Akira Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai.” Both movies are classics, and the usual question of “why do we need this?” that accompanies any remake will assuredly plague this most recent one, even though Kurosawa’s story has inspired numerous other films, like “A Bug’s Life.” Fuqua’s film answers this question with an impressive cast led by Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt.
