Dog Eat Dog (2016)
Potential but fizzled halfway through.
This movie just fell off the cliff halfway through. Willem Dafoe is one of my all time favorite actors, to see him going through this was painful to watch. The set up was great, but the movie lost itself halfway through. Think of having sex with a Victoria Secret model and great foreplay then she abruptly walks out on you, leaving you hanging. This film does that to you! Cage has been doing such odd work of late, I almost think he is purposely picking mediocre scripts because he owes everyone favors since his bankruptcy or maybe this is all he can get these days. Whatever the case, he needs a good movie soon or he'll soon fade away into obscurity. What a horrible flick!
Suicide Squad (2016)
If this is DC's Attempt to Win Over Marvel Movies, It's Not Happening Yet
How to put this lightly, this was one of the worst comic book movies ever made in this new age of comic book movie cinema. Watching this movie was like watching a 9 year old kid's piano recital at school.BORING! About a third of the way into the movie, I basically lost interest and started counting the tiles in the walls and ceiling. Why they chose David Ayer to pen and direct this material I will never understand. Here is a guy who most of his movies are about the drama and harsh realities of life in the streets. It's a rugged, realistic, urban setting look and style where he mostly shines and he is given the green light to write and direct materials about fake over the top villains with powers in a comic universe. This marriage could not be more off. And for once I completely agree with these negative reviews. And I'm even a DC fan over Marvel. This story was all over the place, I could not follow one single plot while another plot was being introduced. The story basically sucked. The character development was too fast paced and not given enough time to develop. The special effects were not much to gawk at either and to top it off, everything mostly happens in one building throughout the movie. Talk about being on a budget. I wonder if the actors just got way overpaid or something because for 175 million dollar budget, I did not see a single dollar spent on set locations. This movie would be compared to all of the solo Wolverine movies to date. Maybe the worst comic movie ever. Will just have to wait and see as time progresses and how much bad or good word of mouth this movie gets. I gave it 5 stars and I was being generous. David Ayer stick to what you do best, DRAMA! Leave these materials alone, this is NOT your style of writing and directing. And although you only wrote the movie, I still think Training Day was one of the best cop drama movies ever. Leave the fantasy, light-hearted comedy genre to someone else please!
The Magnificent Seven (2016)
Better Than the Original? Thats a Big NO
Hollywood, you do not take a classic film and do a lackluster job and make it worst. You try to transcend. It's lazy Hollywood all over again. The script makes no attempt to develop any of the characters and what we get is a piece of hollow action flick with no substance to it. Hollywood thinks we are all sheep and simply throw away our hard earned money to them. They insult our intelligence over and over again with remakes of great classics promising to be better than the original. Once in a blue moon they succeed but not this time! Don't waste your money. Wait for it to go on DVD or watch it free if you can. Better yet, watch the classic Magnificent 7 with Yul Brynner and you will see how much better that one is to the remake. They don't call it a classic for nothing!
Under the Dome (2013)
Season 1 was great then fizzle fizzle pop pop
Watch season 1 and that's it. The 2nd season was abysmal. The 3rd was just more trash. It seemed they took away the budget after season 1. I watched it on Amazon. They have all 3 seasons free on prime right now. I knew things went sour when they killed off one of the main characters and that character being the brightest talent of the bunch. Season one was all about the mystery behind the dome, it got me hooked and intrigued, made me come back every episode to watch more. The rest is just garbage writing, editing, acting, boring! I believe they ran out if ideas after season 1. I wish they worked on more of the script but I guess the writers went on auto cruise. So to conclude, season 1 was great, season 2 and 3 was a snooze fest.
