The NFL's scariest offenses to defend

The Cowboys' efficient rushing game and the Falcons' big-play passing attack make both teams really tough to devise a game plan against. Which other teams do D-coordinators dread facing?

Spurs finish the first quarter here in Houston up 26-24. A little surprised the Spurs have just 4 assists on 12 FGs. But they've scored 14 points in the paint and 8 points in second-chance baskets. LaMarcus Aldridge leads the Spurs with 9 points.

Rockets missed all six of their three-pointers and trail the Spurs, 26-24, after one quarter. James Harden has 11 for the Rockets. Nene started at center for Houston and scored two points and grabbed three rebounds in five minutes.

Only DeMarco Murray was in Pro Bowl fan voting top five a week before balloting closed one week ago. That means the Titans got a lot of recognition from coaches and players, whose votes also count one-third. The five players named to the AFC team -- Jurrell Casey, Taylor Lewan, Murray, Brian Orakpo and Delanie Walker -- are the most for the Titans since 2008, when six were voted in and eight eventually made the roster. The Titans could wind up with eight again, if alternates Marcus Mariota, Jack Conklin and Jalston Fowler get in.

The Lakers finished the first half of Tuesday night's game against the Hornets with 73 points. The 73 points are a high for any half this season and the most they've scored in a first half since Nov. 2, 2010 against the Grizzlies (also scored 73).

Saints get shut out of the Pro Bowl for the second year in a row (not counting alternates). Drew Brees and DE Cameron Jordan deserved to go based on performance -- but that's one of the prices of going 6-8.

The San Francisco 49ers had no players selected to the Pro Bowl, the first time that's happened since 2005. It's little surprise given the team's 1-13 record and lack of obvious choices. Even LT Joe Staley hasn't performed at his usual level and he's been slowed by a hamstring injury over the past two weeks when player voting occurred.

Rams DT Aaron Donald and P Johnny Hekker are headed back to the Pro Bowl. Third time for each of them. Hekker has 46 punts downed inside the 20-yard line, tying an NFL record. Donald leads the NFL in QB hits (29) and is tied for the lead in tackles for loss (16).

Panthers tight end Greg Olsen, MLB Luke Kuechly, OLB Thomas Davis and FB Mike Tolbert selected to the Pro Bowl. A year ago, Carolina led the NFL with 10 players.

Rob Demovsky ESPN Staff Writer

Aaron Rodgers, T.J. Lang and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix were the Packers' Pro Bowl selections. It's the sixth time for Rodgers and the first time for Lang and Clinton-Dix.

Josh Weinfuss ESPN Staff Writer

Three Arizona Cardinals were selected to the Pro Bowl: RB David Johnson, WR Larry Fitzgerald and CB Patrick Peterson.

Jeff Legwold ESPN Senior Writer

The Broncos have three Pro Bowl selections in linebacker Von Miller, cornerback Chris Harris Jr. and cornerback Aqib Talib. Safeties Darien Stewart and T.J. Ward also likely deserved to get spots but did not -- Stewart is a first alternate. Ward could well be named an All Pro and not have been named to the Pro Bowl. No Broncos players on offense were selected even with two 1,000-yard receivers in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. But there is likely no more crowded position for the Pro Bowl than wide receiver given 11 players have already topped 1,000 yards this season.

NFL

Todd Archer ESPN Staff Writer

For the first time in Cowboys history two rookies have been named to the Pro Bowl with quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott being selected. Three members of the offensive line that help drive the success of Prescott and Elliott – Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, Zack Martin – were also named. Somehow linebacker Sean Lee was not picked. The hope of all five and any alternates is they don't play in the Pro Bowl with a trip to Super Bowl LI coming the following week instead.
