In her day, Debbie Reynolds did it all. Subsequently, her day lasted for decades. The actress, who became a national treasure as the star of one of the most beloved movies of all time and went on to enjoy a nearly 70-year career in film, television and theater, has died. She was 84. Her son Todd Fisher confirmed the news to the Associated Press. No cause was immediately announced. Daisy Ridley is mourning the death of Carrie Fisher.
The 24-year-old actress, who starred alongside Fisher in her first feature film role in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, offered heartfelt words after Fisher's death on Tuesday morning.
"Devastated at this monumental loss," Ridley said in a statement to Et. "How lucky we all are to have known her, and how awful that we have to say goodbye."
Fisher died on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles last week, but shared a close bond with Ridley before she died. »

Disney-Lucasfilm’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” has remained a major force at the box office, hitting $615 million worldwide following Tuesday screenings.
The eighth Star Wars movie grossed $22.5 million domestically at 4,157 locations on Tuesday, giving it $340.6 million in its first 12 days. It should become the sixth highest domestic grosser of 2016 on Wednesday, surpassing the $341.8 million taken in by “Zootopia”
“Rogue One” outdistanced Illumination-Universal’s animated comedy “Sing,” which came in with $17.6 million on its seventh day in release at 4,022 domestic sites. “Sing” has earned $93 million in its first week.
“Rogue One” grossed another $19.7 million internationally on Tuesday to reach $275.3 million, led by the U.K. with $48.9 million, Germany with $26.2 million, France with $23.6 million, Australia with $21.6 million and Japan with $18 million.

The deaths of Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher over the past 48 hours have left the team behind the upcoming HBO documentary on the mother and daughter reeling from shock.
“Bright Lights: Starring Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher” is a chronicle of the extraordinary bond that mother and daughter forged over six decades in the unrelenting glare of showbiz’s spotlight. Documentary vets Fisher Stevens and Alexis Bloom directed and produced the film, which screened in October at the New York Film Festival and before that in Cannes.
“It’s a love story,” said HBO Documentary Films president Sheila Nevins told Variety Wednesday night after the news broke of Reynolds’ death at the age of 84.
“Carrie wanted to make ‘Bright Lights’ for Debbie and Debbie wanted to make it for Carrie,” Nevins said. The sudden loss of two women only magnify the importance of Fisher and Bloom capturing the material for the movie when they did.
