Psych (2006) : Scariest Episodes
Re: Scariest Episodes
The finales for seasons 3, 4 and 5 are all about a serial killer, and while they're a few of the best episodes, they're more serious than others.
6.11 is also a horror themed one, but not as scary as the others.

-Fanboy: "Yes, sir!"
Re: Scariest Episodes
Thanks - one comment my daughter made on the Tuesday the 17th one was that it was scarier then the mummy and ghost episodes because she knows mummy's and ghost's aren't real, but this was just a person in a mask (of course the mummy and ghost were also just a person in the end ...). So serious episodes aren't a good idea - I'll definitely skip over the serial killer ones (but probably watch them myself!)
And that 6.11 I wouldn't have caught from the name (Heeeeere's Lassie), but yeah reading the description we'll give that one a pass too.

Re: Scariest Episodes
I recommend still watching 6.11 as it's really good. Maybe wach it without the kids as it's an homage to the shining.
Re: Scariest Episodes
I'm not sure how old your kids are to know what their threshold for this kind of stuff is, but they sound on the younger side....so any of the Yang episodes are probably too heavy for them. There's another one called 'Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark," which while maybe not horrifying is much more serious fare (for the most part) than the show usually had.
Just remember, it is a crime show at the end of the day so they are all dealing with some pretty nasty stuff. From time to time though it would get fairly dark, which was always somewhat surprising, but also well done I believe. Perhaps maybe some of the more Halloween themed ones as well? Those could be seen as more hokey and referential, but if you're too young to get those kinds of things it could all just read as scary or creepy.
Hope that helped a little!

Re: Scariest Episodes
They're 9 and 11 ... but of course age alone doesn't really say that much about what they can handle, and ultimately I'll have to make that decision myself.
I gather Yang is the serial killer mentioned above, so yes we'll be skipping those. And I'll probably skip that Shot in the Dark one as well - serious episodes are a little too real for them.
I know it's a crime show, and honestly hadn't planned to watch it with them originally. For the most part though the content isn't really that bad, and mostly done in a humorous way. When you come right down to it, even Disney movies deal with some nasty stuff - it's all in how it's presented, and how big a part of the show it is.
Anyway, thanks for the help!

Re: Scariest Episodes
I would recommend skipping Nightmare on State Street (second last episode of the show). While it's handled humourously and not seriously like the Yin Yang serial killer episodes, it is modeled after horror/zombie movies, so it could be disturbing.
Also a lot of people hate the episode.

Thanks, I'll give that one a pass too.
Re: Scariest Episodes
I scanned through the episode descriptions, and came up with a few more that seem questionable (some may be alright, but I'll at least watch them myself first to be sure). Combined with the above, this is my list of scariest episodes (or at least ones to be wary of with kids):
1.15 Scary Sherry: Bianca's Toast (Suicide/Paranormal)
2.16 Shawn (and Gus) of the Dead (Mummy/Shaun of the Dead)
3.1 Ghosts (Ghost)
3.15 Tuesday the 17th (Spoof of Friday the 13th)
3.16 An Evening with Mr. Yang (Serial Killer)
4.4 The Devil Is in the Details... And the Upstairs Bedroom (Suicide/Possession/Exorcism)
4.8 Let's Get Hairy (Werewolf)
4.9 Shawn Takes a Shot in the Dark (Shawn taken hostage)
4.16 Mr. Yin Presents (Serial Killer)
5.3 Not Even Close... Encounters (Alien abduction)
5.11 In Plain Fright (Haunted House)
5.12 Dual Spires (spoof of Twin Peaks)
5.16 Yang 3 in 2D (Serial Killer)
6.3 This Episode Sucks (Vampire)
6.11 Heeeeere's Lassie (Paranormal)
6.16 Santabarbaratown (Henry shot)
7.1 Santabarbaratown 2 (Henry shot)
7.15 Psych the Musical (Season finale/Insane)
8.9 A Nightmare on State Street (Spoof of Nightmare on Elm Street)
A definite trend seems to be to avoid season finales (I added 7.15 largely for that reason ...). I'd forgotten about the first one (Scary Sherry) as the kids hadn't started watching yet at that point.

Re: Scariest Episodes
Possibly 7.3 lassie Jerkey ..maybe give it a view ahead of time and decide.
Also, Right Turn or Left for Dead quite possibly. It is pivitol for the series for sure, but is also sort of hard to follow so they may not understand it anyhow.

I never finish anyth
