Live Loops makes it fun and easy to create electronic music, no turntables or specialized hardware required. Simply tap cells and columns in the grid to trigger musical loops, and then build your own original arrangements and combinations of sounds. You can even use Remix FX to add creative, DJ-style transitions with Multi-Touch gestures, or just by tilting or moving around your iOS device. It’s an entirely new way to make music.

To get started, pick a template from popular genres like EDM, House, Hip Hop, and more. Then simply tap a cell in the template to turn on the loop. Build your sound by tapping more cells, or break it down by tapping them again to turn them off.

Play around with a vast library of loops.

Once you’ve got your song started, add some unique loops to give it your own spin. With more than a thousand catchy Apple Loops to experiment with, you really can’t go wrong. You can even use the library to build your own Live Loops grid from scratch, one loop at a time. Live Loops keeps all your beats in sync, with perfect time and pitch.

Mix things up with Remix FX.

Remix FX is an exciting collection of DJ-inspired effects and transitions like filters, repeaters, echoes, and vinyl scratches that you can apply to your song in real time. Control these fun effects by using Multi-Touch taps and swipes, or even by tilting or waving your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.

Drummer makes its iOS debut with nine virtual session drummers, each representing a popular electronic or acoustic style. Each drummer provides a dazzling array of nuanced, incredibly realistic-sounding beats with a signature style. And simple controls let you fine-tune a drummer’s performance until it sounds exactly the way you want.

GarageBand on iPad Pro gives you more room to play. For example, the keyboard displays nearly three octaves. Guitar players will love how the guitar neck has more playable frets — one full octave per string. The Live Loops grid displays nearly twice as many cells on iPad Pro as on other iPad models, and you can see cells and a Touch Instrument onscreen at the same time — so laying down tracks is even faster and easier.

iPhone 6s offers new musical possibilities, too. With 3D Touch, you can hold down keys on the keyboard to create a sweet-sounding effect known as “polyphonic aftertouch.”⁵ On iPhone 6s Remix FX also delivers a retro, ’80s-inspired Tape Stop effect with a press of the XY pad.
