what a special western

more people need to see this film. me being a fan of john huston, john milius, paul newman and stacy keach to begin with helps but i think anyone who enjoys off-center westerns from the 60s and 70s would enjoy this film. this is one of my favorite huston films right up there with "fat city", "treasure of the sierra madre", "the man who would be king", "reflections of a golden eye", "the asphault jungle" and "wise blood". also this is one of paul newman's most strange and underrated performances.

Re: what a special western

I have seen this one more than any other western and it is my favorite. Other westerns might be more "classic" but this one is just pure fun.

Re: what a special western

One of my and my wife's favorite's too. We nicknamed our dog the watch bear, he always took care of Gayl. More people need to see it, heck everyone needs to see it. We need men of strong moral fiber. If you have a dab of imagination; its a wonderful movie. The ending is superb beyond words. FOR TEXAS AND MISS LILLIE!!

Re: what a special western

Anyone who does not dig The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean does not belong in the same ground as The Bear.

...I'm waitin' for ya Bean-O.

Re: what a special western

All westerns were special until "Movieland"began the nudity/foul language and the
1990's or so...........
This one was extra special...good supporting cast.
