Plays Off Incorrect Harmful Stereotypes
24 November 2016 | by See all my reviews

The media is very important for how people view people with mental illness. this movie is atrocious in that respect, first off its DID not MPD, and people with DID are always victims of trauma and only very uncommonly abusers themselves. I know many people with DID and they are not horrible or the type to kidnap and torture girls, they are sweet caring people who have had terrible things happen to them. DID is not a 'scary' illness and should not be used in a horror movie as a shock factor. This is not the portrayal movies should give and it shows the public an awful incorrect view of a mental disorder that they otherwise hear nothing about. It portrays negative stereotypes and generally seems like an ableistic movie. I love horror movies but mental illness should never be used as a scare factor, its an awful way to try and sell more tickets off of fear mongering and ignorance. Don't pay to see this.
