Lynda Carter on how she’d like to see Wonder Woman portrayed in Batman vs. Superman

11 April 2014 1:21 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

As Zack Snyder and actress Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) gear up to give a big screen debut to the Amazon Princess, former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter has shared her feelings on how she’d like to see the character portrayed in the Man of Steel sequel Batman vs. Superman, telling The Huffington Post that…

“I’m in [Gal's] corner. I just hope they write well for her. I’m very hopeful she embodies the essence of Wonder Woman. It’s less about super powers and more about heart and intellect and a sense of right and wrong with a goodness in her. Often times, writers really want to take a male superhero and dress him up as a female – and that’s just not who she is… They make Wonder Woman a macho Superman type character – they make her mean – and that’s not who she is.”

When Did Jennifer Garner Switch From Ass-Kicker to Maternal Figure?

11 April 2014 11:00 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

When did the switch happen for Jennifer Garner? The actress made her name as a formidable ass-kicker in the television show Alias (as well as films like Elektra and The Kingdom), but somewhere along the way, she turned into the first actress you'd cast as the warm significant other to a strong man who's calling the shots — in other words, the role she's playing opposite Kevin Costner in this weekend's Draft Day. She's become softer and more maternal as she ages; a perception aided, no doubt, by the countless Us Weekly spreads of Garner cavorting with her three children, or all those shots of her standing a supportive half-step behind husband Ben Affleck as he carried out his awards campaign for Argo.In Draft Day, Garner plays Costner's girlfriend, and her big plot point is that she's pregnant. Jennifer Garner, cast as a pregnant woman? You're not exactly shocked, are »

'Oculus' Review: 10 Things to Know About the New Horror Movie

10 April 2014 11:30 AM, PDT | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Besides making lots and lots of money, "The Conjuring" solidified the fact that, even in whatever you're supposed to call this decade, you can still make a scary movie that doesn't rely exclusively on buckets of blood and extreme sexual violence. Instead, you could tell a classy, subtle, emotionally engaging tale of everyday people faced with an otherworldly presence... And that people would actually show up.

The same line of thinking is involved with this weekend's "Oculus," which we first saw back at SXSW --it's the tale of a pair of adult siblings (Karen Gillan and Brenton Thwaites) who confront the haunted mirror that was responsible for a seismic family tragedy many years earlier. Yes, that sounds like a very silly horror movie. But sometimes, in the words of George Michael, you've got to have faith.

But does "Oculus" actually bring it? Or does it leave you screaming... for more? »

The stars of the upcoming new and original horror movie Oculus (review) gathered on the red carpet at the Chinese 6 Theater at the famous “Hollywood & Highland” corner to celebrate its premiere – and Dread Central was there!

Some folks say the poster is a little ambiguous so if you haven’t seen our junket video or read our review yet… here’s the scary skinny:

When teenage Kaylie’s younger brother, Tim, was convicted of the brutal murder of their parents, she made it her life’s mission to prove the law was wrong. She believes their deaths were at the supernatural hands of forces unleashed through an eerie antique in their home, The Lasser Glass. Tracing the provenance of the oversized mirror, adult Kaylie tracks it to an auction house, where she purchases it, and with the help of recently released Tim, she takes history’s reflections head-on. Batman vs. Superman won’t back down from Captain America 3, David S. Goyer on a cohesive DC universe

9 April 2014 3:42 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Earlier this week, Marvel Studios officially announced the release of Captain America 3, confirming that the currently-untitled superhero sequel will hit cinemas on May 6th, 2016 – the exact same date as another currently-untitled superhero sequel in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel follow-up Batman vs. Superman.

Well, it seems that Marvel isn’t the only one refusing to budge, with Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman telling Bloomberg that: “It doesn’t make a lot of sense for two huge superhero films to open on the same date but there is a lot of time between now and May 6th 2016. However, at this time, we are not considering a change of date for Batman vs. Superman.”

Meanwhile, speaking to IGN, Warner’s DC go-to guy David S. Goyer has briefly spoken about the studio’s ambitions for its DC movie universe, stating that: “I know that Warner Bros. would love »

Grand Piano review: not enough notes

8 April 2014 3:35 PM, PDT | www.flickfilosopher.com | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

Builds up a good momentum of suspense only to throw it away on a rushed and powerfully unsatisfying ending, rendering all its preposterousness suddenly unforgivable. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

I’m “biast” (con): nothing

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

World-famous classical concert pianist Tom Selznick (Elijah Wood: The Wind Rises, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) hasn’t been in front of an audience in five years, after a performance went, apparently, so disastrously wrong that classical music nerds are still talking about it. But his movie star wife, Emma (Kerry Bishé: The Fitzgerald Family Christmas, Argo), has arranged a comeback. And as if Tom weren’t already nervous enough, when he opens his sheet music — you know, the kind that I’m pretty sure world-famous classical concert pianists don’t use onstage in the same way that actors onstage don’t »
