Two New Clips And TV Spot For Pablo Larraín’s Jackie Continue To Drum Up Awards Momentum

Bringing an end to months of anticipation and excitement, Pablo Larraín’s starry biopic Jackie is barrelling down on its December 2 release date and in a last-ditch attempt to drum up the film’s award credentials, Fox Searchlight has today rolled out two new TV spots and a rather poignant clip showcasing Natalie Portman as the former First Lady.

Left facing her husband’s devastating assassination and a country in mourning, down below you’ll be able to catch yet more footage of Portman commanding the screen as the late, great Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Set immediately after JFK’s untimely death in ’63, Jackie promised to be an intimate portrait of the former First Lady, who handled such an overwhelming situation – emotionally, politically, you name it – with dignity and grace, particularly when it came down to safeguarding the “Camelot” legacy she and her husband built together.

The real question left now is, »

SiREN Review

David Bruckner’s “Amateur Night” segment of V/H/S is a crowd favorite amongst franchise fans, so you can imagine the excitement surrounding this year‘s feature-length Chiller adaptation. SiREN marks the cinematic return of Hannah Fierman’s beloved psycho-nymph, but how would the devilish songstress fare without a found footage perspective or Bruckner’s vision? V/H/S alumn Gregg Bishop steps in to direct a bachelor-party-gone-wrong script written by Luke Piotrowski, in an attempt to enchant viewers expecting the same obsessive terror with a lesser production feel than Bruckner’s minutes-long short. Prepare to be un-a-mused, hopeless horror romantics…

Chase Williamson stars as the unfortunate apple of Lily’s (Hannah Fierman) eye, a soon-to-be husband named Jonah who’s gearing up for his wild stag party. Brother Mac (Michael Aaron Milligan) is in charge of the festivities, which are of the typical bachelor persuasion. Garden City plays »

Lifting inspiration from Annie Barros and Mary Ann Shaffer’s novel of the same name, Guernsey chronicles the story of Juliet Ashton (James), a reporter who decides to shed light on the famous Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, a book club formed on Guernsey Island in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy during the throes of World War II.

A haven of peace and tranquility during wartime, Ashton’s curiosity is piqued when she receives a letter from a local resident named Dawsey Adams (Huisman). He’s a farmer on the island and, following a series of exchanges between Lily James’ writer and the titular book society, »

Buckaroo Banzai TV Series Loses Kevin Smith Amid MGM Lawsuit

In between the likes of Yoga Hosers and his directorial input on DC’s small-screen universe through The Flash and, soon, Supergirl, writer-director Kevin Smith has spent the past few months developing a TV spinoff based on cult MGM classic, The Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension.

All of that progress has come screeching to a halt, however, with Deadline reporting that Kevin Smith has abruptly pulled out of the gestating Buckaroo Banzai TV show. Smith later posted a frank 18-minute Facebook video to explain his reasoning, which can be traced to the federal lawsuit filed by MGM against the original creator Earl Mac Rauch and W.D. Richter, the director of the 1984 flick, over complicated rights issues.

Originally set for a 2017 premiere by Amazon Studios, there’s no word of an official statement from the studio at the time of writing, though the mere fact that Smith is »

Tom Hardy Is Like A Man Possessed In Intense First Promos For FX’s Taboo Miniseries

Whether it’s the formidable Bane or Charles Bronson (real name Michael Gordon Peterson), throughout the course of his stellar career, Tom Hardy has developed a knack for characters that are as dark as they are fiercely intense. Last year, for instance, his fiery, yet understated performance as Max Rockatansky was enough to leave even Immortan Joe quaking in his boots, and Tom Hardy fans will soon be turning their gaze toward Taboo, FX’s upcoming miniseries that places the British actor in the grubby boots of swashbuckling adventurer, James Keziah Delaney.

From the character description alone, we know that Delaney is “a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back irrevocably changed,” but thanks to today’s deluge of Taboo promos, we get to see a glimpse of Hardy’s scenery-chewing role. Set in 1814, here we see James Keziah Delaney return home to London »

The Last Guardian: Fumito Ueda Touches Base On Game’s Development Woes In Frank Open Letter

You wait almost a decade to get your hands on the video game equivalent of a white whale and suddenly, two come along within the space of a week. That’s right, now that Final Fantasy Xv is finally out in the open (watch the stunning live-action trailer here), Sony is quietly prepping The Last Guardian for launch on December 6.

Much like Square’s long-gestating Jrpg before it, development on Team Ico’s ethereal adventure game was fraught with issues and creative setbacks – in 2011, for instance, Game Director Fumito Ueda left Sony, though continued to work on The Last Guardian in a freelance capacity, before the title was uprooted for PS4 some years later. That’s a journey that Ueda himself reflects on in the frank open letter included in The Last Guardian media kit, as relayed by Eurogamer.

Ten years. Ten whole years since Final Fantasy Xv was unveiled to the wanting masses – then titled Versus Xiii – but now, Square’s long-in-development Jrpg has emerged blinking into the sunlight, and the live-action launch trailer is here to prove it.

Set against Florence Welch’s delicate cover of “Stand by Me,” the sizzle reel follows a group of four young boys as they engineer a booby trap deep in the woods. As an Iron Giant – or some variation of the Ff stalwart – lumbers into sight, the trap is sprung, though the explosive device only manages to stagger the hulking monster. That’s when Noctis and his crew – namely Prompto, Ignis and Gladiolus – leap to the rescue, and not a moment too soon.

It’s “Heroes V Aliens” In New Promo For The Flash

Following tonight’s episode of Supergirl that served as a prologue for the big DC TV crossover event, The CW released a brand new trailer for tomorrow night’s offering of The Flash that will officially kick off “Heroes v Aliens.”

In it, we see a central focus placed on Barry Allen, which is understandable considering that it’s his show. What deserves a closer look, however, is that the Dominators have some of those very heroes we’ve been looking forward to seeing join forces under mind control, effectively complicating matters right out of the gate. Suffice it to say, we’re being given a look at just how formidable these invaders truly are.

Click to skip R2-D2 - Star Wars

Who's the greatest movie robot of all-time? It's a tough call, but you would be hard-pressed to not choose Star Wars' most endearing creation - that bleeping, brave-hearted blue tin can that is R2-D2.

T-800 - The Terminator

He's either an emotionless assassin or a heroic bodyguard, but either way, Arnold Schwarzenegger is the coolest robot ever in the Terminator films (well, at least the first two).

He also launched a handful of catchphrases into popular culture, something that not many others on this list can claim to have done.

Iron Giant - The Iron Giant

Despite being designed as an alien war machine, the big-hearted Iron Giant really just wants to be a hero.

3% Season 1 Review

3%, Netflix’s futuristic sci-fi thriller in which countless twenty-year-olds undergo a ruthless elimination process in hopes of becoming part of an elite few with access to their holy land, appears destined to remain in viewers’ queues unfinished or unwatched.

Adapted from creator Pedro Aguilera’s made-for-tv movie of the same name, 3% is Netflix’s first entirely Brazilian production, and no doubt a byproduct of the streaming service’s success with the crime drama Narcos. The eight-episode first season, looking to capitalize on its timely themes and painfully deliberate diversity, showcases a wealth of well-intentioned observations and opinions on modern society and governing bodies. And yet, the series ultimately fails to produce the compelling, compassionate, bone-deep commentary its setup could elicit.

In a not-too-distant dystopian future, the show opens as some combination of overpopulation and lack of a sustainable food and/or water supply have led to slum-like living conditions for all. »

Daisy Comforts Gabe In This New Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Clip

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns from its brief hiatus with a brand new episode tomorrow night, and following the first Simmons-centric clip from a few days back, ABC has released another sneak peek from “Deals with Our Devils.” This time, the focus is placed on Daisy as she attempts to comfort Gabriel Reyes following the disappearance of his brother.

The lad is understandably not in the best of places after discovering that not only is his brother Robbie possessed by a mass-murdering Spirit of Vengeance, but that his Uncle Eli is a megalomaniacal madman bent on world domination. These sort of things do tend to dampen one’s day a little.

Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy Explains Why The Star Wars Saga Still Hasn’t Hired A Female Filmmaker

In recent years, moviegoers have made it clear that they would like to see just as much diversity behind the camera as in front of it. Unfortunately, it’s been slow going, and while we’ll get to see Patty JenkinsWonder Woman this coming summer, big budget blockbusters remain a type of film that are seemingly dominated by white, male directors.

We know that Marvel Studios is actively seeking a woman to direct Captain Marvel, and with Disney and Lucasfilm now releasing yearly Star Wars movies, they’re surely going to hire a woman to take the helm of an upcoming instalment, right? Well, maybe not.

During a recent interview, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that while they want to bring a female filmmaker on board, they’re biding the time in order to find a director with the right level of experience.

Kanye West Suffering From “Extreme Paranoia,” Still Not Stable

Kanye West‘s mental breakdown continues to worsen today, as multiple outlets report that he’s still being held in hospital after last week’s incident and is now suffering from “extreme paranoia.” According to TMZ, the rapper was supposed to be released today, but doctors have continued to hold him for observation, stating that he still isn’t stable enough to go home.

If you recall, West first entered the hospital last week after experiencing “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.” The breakdown followed hot on the heels of the cancellation of the remainder of his Saint Pablo tour, which saw the artist exhibiting unusual behavior such as abruptly ending one of this shows after calling out Beyoncé and Jay Z, among others.

Of course, West has never been one to play by the rules, and over the past several years it really has seemed like the »

There May Be A Good Reason Why We Still Haven’t Had That Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Spinoff

Ever since it became clear that Disney and Lucasfilm would be releasing standalone Star Wars Anthology movies, fans have been demanding that Ewan McGregor return to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for his own solo outing, one which would fill in some of the gaps in his life between the prequel and original trilogies.

We’re getting Rogue One: A Star Wars Story next month, and adventures for Han Solo and Boba Fett over the next few years, but there’s still no sign of a movie for the beloved Jedi Knight. However, there may very well be a good reason for that if Entertainment Weekly reporter Anthony Breznican is to be believed.

Apparently, the reason Lucasfilm isn’t pushing forward with a spinoff is because the main Star Wars Saga may still have plans for the character which could later factor into his movie when it does eventually happen. »

Kevin Smith: An Animated Adaptation Of Superman Lives “Would Be Fun To See”

Although it may be some time until the next live action solo Superman film gets here in the form of Man of Steel 2, it never hurts to think about which stories could be adapted to animation in the meantime. While that honor usually goes to comics such as The Death of Superman or All-Star Superman, we can now cross our fingers in hopes that a canned script will soon get similar treatment.

In a recent Facebook Q & A, filmmaker and lifelong lover of comics Kevin Smith was asked if he would like to see his ill-fated Superman Lives script resurrected as an animated film, and here’s what he had to say:

“Oh like based on my script, based on the Superman Lives script? That would be tight, dude. I’m not going to lie, that would be fun to see. That’s something I worked on 20 years ago at this point, »
