The first female U.S. attorney general has died.
Janet Reno’s goddaughter, Gabrielle D’Alemberte, told CBS News the 78-year-old trailblazer passed away early Monday from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Reno’s niece, Daphne Webb, confirmed to CBS News that Reno died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends.

After weeks of widespread critical acclaim, Marvel's Doctor Strange finally made its way into American theaters this past Friday and quickly became one of the biggest openers of the year, having already grossed over $85 million domestic, $325 million worldwide. The good fortune will likely continue into next week unless Denis Villeneuve's critically acclaimed sci-fi drama Arrival manages to exceed its modest projections. With Doctor Strange a certified hit, this week's installment of NBC's long-running sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live entrusted the Sorcerer Supreme himself Benedict Cumberbatch with hosting duties for their final pre-Election episode.
