Dwayne Johnson Honors Service Men and Women With ‘Rock the Troops’ Mega-Event

10 hours ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Just in time to kick off the holiday season, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is bringing the spirit to 50,000 service men and women for the inaugural “Rock the Troops” event, which airs tonight on Spike.

The celeb-studded music and entertainment fest is hosted by Johnson, who has military and Navy SEALs in his family. The multi-hyphenate icon’s production company Seven Bucks Productions is behind the TV special with Johnson’s producing partner Dany Garcia, Casey Patterson Entertainment, Don Mischer Productions and Spike TV.

Honoring the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, the event was shot on location at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii, which became so flooded with audience members, the producers were overwhelmed with emotion.

“We never knew how many people would attend the event,” says Don Mischer. “No one bought tickets, you were just welcomed in when you showed your military pass. We were hoping for 12,000 to 15,000 military families. But »

Newswire: Mark Wahlberg unattaches himself from the Uncharted movie

15 hours ago | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

One would think that the adventure-seeking descendant of world famous British explorer Sir Francis Drake was a role that Mark Wahlberg was born to play. Unfortunately, that’s not the case, Collider reports. The 45-year-old actor/producer was at one time attached to the film adaptation of the Uncharted video game series in the lead role, but that was apparently back when his buddy David O. Russell was attached as director.

The film has rolled through a number of prospective directors over the years—including Russell, Neil Burger (Divergent), and Seth Gordon (Baywatch)—but it seems to have landed in the lap of Night At The Museum director Shawn Levy. That presumably does not work for Wahlberg, who revealed to We Got This Covered that he’s rescinded his brand from the project, saying, “As of now, no, I’m not attached.”

What a wasted opportunity. He even had the »

New 'Baywatch' Trailer Review

11 December 2016 11:55 PM, PST | CineMovie | See recent CineMovie news »

No one has high hopes for a movie screen adaptation of the cheesy 90s television show named Baywatch, so the new trailer for the movie starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron shouldn't be a disappointment, but actually it is. The new trailer lays out the simplistic plot in a cookie cutter fashion. There's nothing smart about the big screen approach at least from what we can see in the first preview, but will anybody care as long as The Rock and Zac Efron flash those muscles, and the women parade their bods like in the original?  What do you think about the trailer?

Dwayne Johnson Talks 'Sexiest Man Alive’ Title: 'Everything I Do Becomes Sexy’

9 December 2016 1:48 PM, PST | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Being the "Sexiest Man Alive" has already changed Dwayne Johnson's life!

On Friday, the Baywatch star stopped by the Today show, where he joked about his sexiness and revealed how his friends reacted to him receiving People magazine's coveted title.

“My buddies have not stopped giving me a hard time," Johnson admitted to Matt Lauer. "But here's the thing: When they give you a hard time, they're jealous...know what I'm sayin'?"

Aside from the faux jealously of his friends, Johnson quipped that his entire demeanor has gone through a sexy transformation.

"Now what’s funny is that everything just becomes sexy," he explained. "Everything I do becomes sexy -- especially in my household."

In fact, things are apparently so sexy in Johnson’s house that he chose not to say very much when it comes to one-on-one »

Michael Keaton as Vulture Revealed in Spider-Man: Homecoming Photos

8 December 2016 9:52 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Wow! There have been some great trailers coming lately, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, Transformers: The Last Knight and Baywatch blowing up the Internet. But the latest offering from Marvel and Sony might just win the prize as best trailer of 2016. The first look footage from Spider-Man: Homecoming is simply, truly amazing. And it answers a lot of question.

The main one being that yes, Robert Downey Jr. will suit up as Iron Man to fly alongside Spidey as he swings through New York City. That money shot is saved for the very end, and it's worth the wait. Previous rumors claimed that Tony Stark would be taking on more of a mentor role, and many believed that Stark wouldn't be crawling inside his Iron Man armor. That's simply not the case.

But the coolest take away from this first Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer has to be the villains. While »

First 'Baywatch' Trailer Gives the Iconic '90s TV Show the '21 Jump Street' Treatment

8 December 2016 1:30 PM, PST | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

Nobody fully expected the 21 Jump Street movie to be as great as it was. It was based on an '80s cop show with an absurd premise and no real attachment to the current generation of pop culture. And then the movie came out and it was not only hilarious, but was a solid action movie to boot. Well, get ready for that pattern to repeat with Baywatch. Yes, the '90s show that's mainly iconic for its swimsuit clad men and women running in slow motion is getting turned into a movie. And yes, its first trailer ooks genuinely funny. Of course that's bound to happen when you've got The Rock, an action-comedy heavyweight, anchoring your movie. Dwayne Johnson was born to play roles like these. He's a handsome, oversized hero with a heart of gold and great sense of...

Sexy figures in the surf at sunset, Dwayne Johnson on a burning boat and the inexplicable continuation of Zac Efron. It must be the new Baywatch film

First Trailer For Baywatch

8 December 2016 7:09 AM, PST | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

Teaming up Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, the big screen Baywatch reboot looks to follow in the meta footsteps of similar vintage tv show to movie adaption, 21 Jump Street, putting a comedic spin on the antics Mitch Bucannon (Johnson) and his crew of tanned life guards. The first trailer has dropped, and personally, I’m not exactly filled with confidence with many of the jokes falling flat, especially those aimed at poking fun at the original show. But Johnson and Efron have separately proven to have considerable comedy chops, and their double act could prove to be the best part here. Check it out for yourself below. Released: 12th May 2017 (Irl/U.K.)/19th May 2017 (U.S.) »

Watch Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in the ‘Baywatch’ Movie Trailer

8 December 2016 7:03 AM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Muscles, red swimsuits and raunchy charisma — the first teaser trailer for “Baywatch,” released Thursday morning, supplies everything one would expect.

“Our team is the elite of the elite,” Dwayne Johnson says in a voiceover over footage of him swimming out to save a burning ship. “We’re the heart and soul of this very beach. We protect what other people don’t want to protect. And we go above and beyond.”

In a bit of meta commentary, Zac Efron’s character arrives on the scene in the trailer to help recoup the “Baywatch brand.” He and Johnson seem to butt heads at first, but ultimately team up to save the beach.

Based on early footage screened at CinemaCon in April, Variety reporters wrote that the film is “a ’21 Jump Street’ style re-interpretation of a venerable television franchise, one that’s not afraid to send up its source material.”

The winter chill suddenly doesn’t feel as cold anymore after watching the new trailer for Baywatch.

A muscular Zac Efron and an even more muscular Dwayne Johnson team up on the big screen to play everyone’s favourite lifeguard beach babes. The Baywatch headquarters has lost its funding and it’s up to Mitch (Johnson) to get the company back on its feet. The company hires gold medalist – and very shallow - Matt Brody (Efron) as their PR representative, and his party antics rub Mitch the wrong way.

When a dead body appears on their beach, Matt and Mitch have to put their differences aside to solve the case in hopes to rebuild the Baywatch headquarters. And watching »

Coming Distractions: Zac Efron makes waves in the first Baywatch trailer

8 December 2016 6:39 AM, PST | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

The first Baywatch movie promo showed The Rock emerge from the ocean like a smoother Godzilla, even though he was supposed to be a kind of Aquaman. Now the teaser it was promoting has been released, and it introduces us to the rest of the oceanside squadron. Rob Huebel appears to be a bureaucrat who needs The Rock to save money and lives, while restoring the Baywatch reputation. That’s a little confusing, given that everyone in this movie has assumed a character from the original show, including The Rock as Mitch and Zac Efron as Matt. So, who exactly tarnished the Baywatch brand? Was it The Hoff?

In any case, Matt and Mitch will butt heads, because they’re both muscle-bound dudes, but only one of them is an Olympic athlete. That’s great, Matt, but who dove into exploding water in this trailer? It was Mitch, who has »

‘Baywatch’ Trailer: Boobs, Abs and Gunfire (Video)

8 December 2016 6:07 AM, PST | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

The “Baywatch” movie trailer has slow-motioned its way onto the web this morning, and the action is packed with exactly what one would expect from the Paramount franchise: mostly T&A, though the “A” in this case stands for abs. It follows a veteran lifeguard (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a younger lifeguard (Efron) to save the beach from an environmental disaster.
