We - chef Alex Venables and front-of-house manager Alison Ward-Baptiste – are the new owners of The George at Woolley, just outside Bradford-on-Avon. Previously, we spent the last thirteen years at the award-winning Tollgate Inn in nearby Holt, and before that Alex headed up the kitchen brigade at country house hotel, Lucknam Park, retaining its coveted Michelin star.
So we know a thing or two about pubs, and delicious food!
Which is why we have put our heart and soul into The George. After an extensive refurbishment – much of it with our own elbow grease – we re-opened the new-look pub in July. Originally three Georgian houses, The George has been reborn, and revived as a proper community pub, offering everything from top cuisine to a friendly bar; relaxing coffee & cakes to private meeting rooms; gourmet wine dinners to family Sunday lunches.
The George has something for everybody. Why not drop in for a drink, and discover it for yourself.

On Monday evenings pop into The George to enjoy two Ribeye steaks, for the fabulous Spring deal of £30!

Belgium's national dish, and a fixture in most French restaurants, it's hands on eating at its finest. Finger bowls at the ready!
Thyme and Rosemary are self contained apartments with kitchen, dining room and lounge area.
Stay includes breakfast with a full breakfast hamper in your apartment or let chef prepare your breakfast in the restaurant from 9.30am.

Our Sunday lunches, featuring roasts carved at the table including whole herbed chicken for four, are proving very popular.
