If you cast your mind back to this summer, you may recall speculation linking From Dusk Till Dawn and Baby Driver star Eiza Gonzalez to the role of Catwoman in Warner Bros.’ planned female Dceu movie Gotham City Sirens.
The rumours began due to the actress’ social media activity, having shared photos of various DC comic books, discussed visiting Warner Bros. Studios, and posting some images of her in a rather tight Catwoman-like bodysuit. Sketchy, but it was enough to get tongues wagging…
Well, those same rumours have now resurfaced, owing to more social media sleuthing from Reddit, where it has been pointed out that Suicide Squad and Gotham City Sirens director David Ayer has recently followed Gonzalez on Twitter.
Now, this may well mean nothing at all – perhaps Ayer is simply a fan – and there have even been rumours that the filmmaker may no longer be attached to the project, »

David Ayer is the mind behind some fantastic cop dramas like Training Day and End Of Watch, and he’ll be in similar territory with the upcoming Netflix release, Bright. Only this time, he cranks everything up to 11, then 12, and then rips the damn nob off and says, “F@ck it! Let’s throw Orcs and wizards and wands and anything we want in there.” The result is a crazy-looking fantasy-cop-drama starring Will Smith as a regular L.A.P.D. officer with an Orc... Read More »

“It’s L.A. right now,” says Noomi Rapace in this new featurette for the upcoming Netflix film Bright, then she drops the kicker: “It just happens to be dwarves and elves.” Bright, directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad) and arriving in December, stars Will Smith, Joel Edgerton and Rapace in an action-thriller about two Lapd officers (Smith and Edgerton) who work to keep the streets of an alternate-reality L.A. safe from a sinister, dark underworld. Netflix has released a new Bright featurette. David Ayer’s upcoming film stars Will Smith as an Lapd cop who has to partner with an orc (Joel Edgerton), the first of his kind to ever join the force. Their contentious relationship is further tested when they come across a magic wand, which is the equivalent of a nuclear weapon in their world. Looking at Bright, you may think, “This looks like the dumbest thing ever. Why would Netflix pay tens of millions of dollars for this?” and the answer is that Netflix doesn’t function like a traditional studio. It’… »

From Haley Bennett to Game of Thrones mainstay Lena Headey, Warner’s Gotham City Sirens spinoff movie has purportedly piqued the curiosity of countless big-name actresses. And we’re now learning that Eiza González is the latest star to be thrown into the mix.
Best known for her scene-stealing performance as Darling in Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, González has been tipped to play Catwoman for Warner Bros. and David Ayer, after a handful of DC fans noticed that the director is now following González on Twitter. Hardly what one would call a sure-fire confirmation, but it’s also worth mentioning that DC Films head Geoff Johns also follows the actress via social media.
Adding fuel to the fire, Eiza González recently shared photos of her dressed in black catsuits – photos that came bearing the caption, “the uniform lately,” so take from that what you will. Another thing worth mentioning »

Netflix expects to release around 80 original films next year, as it looks to hit the kind of scale in movies that it’s achieved on the TV side, according to chief content officer Ted Sarandos.
“They range anywhere from the million-dollar Sundance hit, all the way up to something on a much larger scale,” like Will Smith-starrer “Bright,” Sarandos said in an investors’ interview Monday about Netflix’s third-quarter 2017 results.
“Bright,” a cop action-thriller movie directed by David Ayer, had a reported production price tag of $90 million. It’s set to debut on Netflix worldwide on Dec. 22. Sarandos also cited as a forthcoming big-budget picture Martin Scorsese’s gangster movie “The Irishman,” starring Robert DeNiro, slated to be released on Netflix in early 2019. “The Irishman” has a budget of more $100 million.
Sarandos said with the release of “Bright” — a “big-budget, event movie” — “I think people will start seeing the potential for this original movie initiative, that it »
