The Amazon-owned entertainment site bases its annual rankings on page views of actors’ profiles from more than 250 million monthly unique visitors worldwide. IMDb doesn’t release actual numbers of views. »

‘Green Hornet’ Star Van Williams Dies at 82

Van Williams, star of the 1966 TV show “The Green Hornet,” died last Monday in Scottsdale, Ariz., of renal failure. He was 82.
“He had a wonderful, caring, and kind heart,” his wife of 57 years, Vicki Williams, told Variety. “He was a wonderful husband, he was a fabulous father, and a devoted grandfather.”
Williams was a diving instructor in Hawaii when he was discovered in 1957 by producer Mike Todd, who was married to Elizabeth Taylor at the time. Williams was persuaded to come to Hollywood and try his hand at acting, and earned his big break on the ABC private detective show “Bourbon Street Beat.” He played Ken Madison, a character he later recycled for another detective show, “Surfside 6.”
In 1966, Williams signed a deal with 20th Century Fox to star in “The Green Hornet” as both the titular masked crusader and his newspaper editor alter ego, Britt Reid. He was ably supported by his martial arts master sidekick »

The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) have announced nominations for outstanding achievement in television, new media, news, radio, and promotional writing during 2016. Rome — Reacting to outrage over reports he and Marlon Brando conspired against actress Maria Schneider while filming a notorious rape scene in “Last Tango in Paris,” Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci said Monday that the outcry was based on a “ridiculous misunderstanding” of what actually happened.
In Monday’s statement, issued in Italian, Bertolucci said: “I would like, for the last time, to clear up a ridiculous misunderstanding that continues to generate press reports about ‘Last Tango in Paris’ around the world.”

ITV has suspended Scott and Deirdre Gurney from their roles as heads of Gurney Productions, the company behind A&E’s “Duck Dynasty,” amid an investigation for fraud, Variety has learned.
Craig Armstrong, head of fellow ITV division 5×5 Media, will serve as interim head of Gurney Productions.
“The board of Gurney Productions is currently in discussion with Scott and Deirdre Gurney about future arrangements with them,” a Gurney Productions spokesperson said in a statement. “Craig Armstrong has been appointed interim CEO of Gurney Productions. Craig is an Emmy award-winning producer whose credits include ‘King of the Nerds’ for TBS, CBS’s Survivor, and ABC’s ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ and ‘Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.’ Craig, along with his producing partner Rick Ringbakk, is co-founder and co-ceo of 5×5 Media, which will continue to operate as before.”

Jackie Chan has signed on to star in Joe Carnahan’s action movie “Five Against A Bullet” as one of the bodyguards.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura is producing the project for Sony. Carnahan came on to the project in 2014 to direct and re-write Alex Litvak’s script, set in a small Mexican town under attack by the drug cartel. The story centers on five the world-weary bodyguards who are signed on to protect a Mexican politician after his father is murdered by a cartel, ahead of an election.
Bruce Willis was attached several years ago to star in “Five Against A Bullet” but is no longer on the project.
Hong Kong-based Chan has been acting since the late 1960s and has credits on more than 150 films. Chan’s upcoming movies include “Railroad Tigers,” “Bleeding Steel” and “The Foreigner.”

“Resident Evil” fans asking themselves what next for their franchise, will be able to get in touch with their heroes through a new interactive experience “Road To Raccoon City.”
The immersive experience features haptic technology from Sony combined with motion picture content from “Resident Evil – Final Chapter.” It launches this week at the CineAsia exhibitors and distributors convention in Hong Kong (Dec. 6-8, 2016.)
Haptic technology generates tactile sensations in a user’s body through vibrations. In “Road to Raccoon City” users wear a specially equipped vest and shoot at zombies on a projected screen. As the zombies attack, the vest generates physical and audio responses to simulate the attack. “Evil” star, Milla Jovovich provides a voice-over.
