Conan Mocks Fellow TBS ‘Comedians’ the ‘Impractical Jokers': ‘Wangs From Staten Island’ (Video)
Conan O’Brien finally said what all intelligent people have been thinking about TBS’ “The Impractical Jokers” for years now. It isn’t very nice.

On Wednesday’s “Conan,” the TBS late-night host mocked his Turner-mates’ popular and long-running schtick during a segment in which O’Brien was supposed to be hashing out human resources issues with his assistant Sona Movsesian.

“How many comedians right now does TBS have?” Conan declared at one point in the highly unprofessional meeting with an actual corporate Hr rep. “Oh right, ‘The Impractical Jokers,'” he added, putting on a defeated face.

“Well it’s always ‘The Impractical Jokers': Those wangs from Staten Island!” he continued. “They get all the glory.”

O’Brien then changed his tone. Kind of.

“I’m sorry, fellas. I didn’t mean to go after you,

Women in Film Has a ‘Cheat Sheet’ for Female Awards Contenders in Every Category

When the Hollywood Foreign Press Association failed to nominate any women for Best Director at the 2020 Golden Globes, many in the industry were swift to point out a large catalog of eligible names that should’ve been up for consideration. The list is long, but if those names aren’t top of mind, we find that many voters inevitably default to the safer (read: male) options. Simply put: they need more visibility.

Women in Film is spearheading a campaign that aims to fix that. Wif’s #VoteForWomen initiative, in partnership with Women and Hollywood and New York Women in Film and Television, is meant to encourage voters to think of women when they fill out their awards ballots, but it’s also meant to show the enormous breadth of female talent that’s within the industry yet often fails to get recognized for the biggest honors in film and TV for the year.

‘Conan’ Sketch Offers Women a ‘Golden Globes Apron’ to Make Up for Director Snub (Video)

The Hollywood Foreign Press failed to nominate a woman in the Best Director category at the Golden Globes when it announced its nominees on Monday, but don’t worry, they made good with the women of Hollywood in a sketch on “Conan” the same night.

Conan O’Brien brought out an HFPA “spokesperson” to address the backlash over the snub in the Best Director category, and he said as a way to honor women at the ceremony, every female nominee and attendee will go home with a special gift.

“This year, every woman who attends the ceremony will receive an official Golden Globes apron,” the rep said. Conan’s next follow-up to that answer was to ask why don’t the men get an apron? “Why would they need them,” the rep replied to a big groan from Conan’s crowd.

Writers Guild Awards 2019: ‘Watchmen,’ ‘PEN15’ Among TV Nominees

Sneaking in ahead of next week’s dual announcements of the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, the Writers Guild of America and Writers Guild of America, East announced their own batch of TV nominees, all competing to be deemed the best-written examples of the form.

Some perennial WGA favorites, including Netflix’s “The Crown,” Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Amazon Prime’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” and HBO’s “Veep” all made return showings amidst the morning’s nominations, but there was still plenty of room for newcomers as well. It was a particularly strong showing for freshman comedies Hulu’s “PEN15” and Netflix’s “Russian Doll,” both of which earned nominations for Comedy Series and New Series. The same can be said of HBO’s currently airing must-see drama “Watchmen,” which also earned nominations for Drama Series and New Series.

Warrior of the Altaii’s Long Journey to Publication

Alana Joli Abbott Nov 25, 2019

It took 40 years for Robert Jordan's first novel, Warrior of the Altaii, to hit the bookshelves. We chronicle its long journey.

This article is sponsored by Tor Books. The opinions reflect those of the writer.

Long time fans of Robert Jordan, author of the bestselling Wheel of Time series, may be puzzled how their beloved writer, who passed away in 2007, had a new book hit bookstore shelves this fall. Warrior of the Altaii, the newest of Jordan’s books to be published, is also his very first novel, and its road to publication was a long one. To get the full story, Den of Geek interviewed Harriet P. McDougal, the editor who originally discovered Jordan (and later married him), and Tor founder Tom Doherty, who revealed the hurdles this book had to overcome to be published—and why now is the perfect time to pick it up.

Jamie Lee Curtis Really Doesn’t Want Little Kids To Watch Halloween

Often times when a celebrity goes on a talk show or does a round of press for a new film, they’ll recount what it’s like when a new generation of movie fans see their most famous role. For a tributary example, Gene Wilder once told Conan that every 4 or 5 years, the faces of a whole “crop” of brand new young kids would light up when they saw Willy Wonka walk by.

Most of the time, when actors talk about these kinds of experiences (beyond the basic “what line do people shout at you” question), they’re usually discussing their most popular work – which is, a great deal of the time, somewhat suited for children.

That, however, isn’t the case for Jamie Lee Curtis, whose call to fame has always been the Halloween franchise, which, initiated by John Carpenter in 1978, is still going hot – as two more films,

Dax Shepard Cannot Wait To Spend Kristen Bell's Frozen 2 Paycheck

Dax Shepard Cannot Wait To Spend Kristen Bell's Frozen 2 Paycheck
Dax Shepard is Frozen 2's biggest fan. During an appearance on Wednesday's Conan, the actor talked up his wife Kristen Bell's latest animated adventure, starting things off by rolling a clip from the chilly sequel, out tomorrow. As host Conan O'Brien accurately pointed out, "You're not in Frozen 2." No, he most definitely is not, but allow Shepard to explain his fanfare. As the Armchair Expert host shared, "Not technically, but Kristen and I were married in California, which is a community property state, which means anything she acquires during our marriage is half mine, so we have the exact same stake in Frozen 2." There it is. "I just...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 May Not Give Us Adam Warlock After All
In news that is sure to disappoint many fans of both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and their comic book counterpart, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn has all but put to bed the rumour that the perfect human being, Adam Warlock, will appear in the upcoming threequel.

Whilst answering an online Q&a, James Gunn was asked specifically about the character, and who we might see portray the golden haired adonis, "Who will play Adam Warlock in Guardians 3? It was then that Gunn gave his answer, and crushed the dreams of McU fans across the globe.

"I never said Adam Warlock was in the movie."

It is an infuriating answer to say the least, very open to interpretation with a slight hint of passive aggressiveness lurking under the surface. What does this actually mean, Mr Gunn? Are you trying to keep the character's appearance a secret by throwing us off with your short,

Sonic the Hedgehog Redesign Rumored to Cost $35M, But Paramount Source Says No Way

Sonic the Hedgehog Redesign Rumored to Cost $35M, But Paramount Source Says No Way
We recently got a look at the newly redesigned Sonic for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie via the latest trailer. The VFX team spent months redesigning the character following the release of the first trailer, which showcased a heavily scrutinized version of the blue Sega creation that diverted in a big way from the games. So, what did it cost for Paramount Pictures to overhaul Sonic's design? Not as much as has been reported, it would seem.

Recently, a tweet from a Twitter user going by the name of Trafon gained quite a bit of traction, to the tune of more than 22 thousand retweets. The tweet suggests that Paramount spent $35 million redesigning Sonic the Hedgehog, which started back in May. Here's what Trafon had to say.

"The official numbers to re-animate Sonic for the movie was 35 Millon. The movies budget went from 90 to 125 Million. I hope people go out and see this,

Sonic The Hedgehog Creator Wants To See Original Design In An Alternate Cut

It’s safe to assume that many of us have been appeased now with the new design of Sonic the Hedgehog. Despite some fans still unhappy with how things are going though (and with Conan O’Brian trolling the hell out of them), most of us can breathe a sigh of relief as our childhoods remain intact in anticipation of the movie.

But we may not be out of the woods just yet, as original Sonic creator Yuji Naka shared a tweet recently where he seems to lament the disappearance of the original “creepy” design and says that he’d like to see an alternate cut of the film with it left intact. Say what?!

映画ソニックの新しいデザイン出て来ましたね。しかし、前のツイート消してるようですが、前のは無かったことにするんでしょうか?前のデザインのままのもDVDとかで見たかったのに残念ですね。 https://t.co/XhmfNmr4EI

— Yuji Naka / 中 裕司 (@nakayuji) November 12, 2019

The tweet translates thusly:

A new design for the movie Sonic came out. However, it seems that the previous tweet has been erased.

Something Is Very Different With Conan’s ‘New & Improved’ Sonic the Hedgehog (Video)
Sonic the Hedgehog got a makeover this week and he’s been making the the rounds to show it off, starting with an appearance on Tuesday’s “Conan.” And when the speedy blue guy stopped by Conan O’Brien’s TBS late-night show, he showed off more to his new design than we saw in that trailer Tuesday. Way more.

“I do see the human teeth are gone, is there anything else about your new design you might want to address, Sonic?” O’Brien asked a life-sized version of the star of the upcoming “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie, who was standing right next to him with, uh, well, a large white penis between his legs.

Right, this “new and improved” Sonic — who clearly has nothing to do with the family-friendly one starring in the film adaptation of the beloved ’90s video game — has male genitalia.

Conan Makes a Wildly Inaccurate ‘Conan’ Trailer Based on Its Wildly Inaccurate Ghanaian Movie Poster (Video)

Conan Makes a Wildly Inaccurate ‘Conan’ Trailer Based on Its Wildly Inaccurate Ghanaian Movie Poster (Video)
On his recent trip to Ghana, Conan O’Brien visited one of his favorite painters — the Ghanaian movie poster artist, Daniel Anum Jasper.

Known for adding tastefully grotesque embellishments to posters for movies the majority of which he’s never seen — except for 1985’s “War Bus,” of course — Jasper took a stab at making a poster for the “Conan” show without any prior knowledge of what it’s actually about.

The result is a beautifully detailed painting featuring a shirtless Conan grabbing a dinosaur bird by the beak with his bare hands. Hovering above him is the uncannily accurate likeness of Conan’s right-hand man, Andy Richter, holding the severed head of former president Dwight D. Eisenhower in one hand (an homage to Conan’s Eisenhower mug) and a gun, pointed at the dino-bird, in the other.

12 Actors Who Played Hitler in Movies and TV, From Charlie Chaplin to Taika Waititi (Photos)

12 Actors Who Played Hitler in Movies and TV, From Charlie Chaplin to Taika Waititi (Photos)
Playing a villain in a movie is a great career move for an actor, but playing a real life, universally known monster like Adolf Hitler is not necessarily a decision that’s made lightly. Even in the history of countless movie Nazis, having the guts and gravitas to actually play Hitler is something else entirely. Taika Waititi, who portrays a satirical, imaginary version of Der Fuhrer inside a young boy’s mind for his latest film “Jojo Rabbit,” only got his movie made under the studio’s condition that he play the part of Hitler. But he’s not the only one who made that leap:

Anthony Hopkins – “The Bunker” (1981)

Though he’s more famous for his other villainous turn as Hannibal Lecter, Anthony Hopkins portrayed Hitler during his downfall era as the Fuhrer was hiding out in an underground bunker. “The Bunker” was a three-hour, TV movie event on CBS,
