This world-famous British television series, Sherlock, is a modern adaptation of the renowned Sherlock Holmes detective stories by written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Directed by Jeremy Lovering and Colm McCarthy, the series stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. The former portrays the role of Sherlock Holmes and the latter Doctor John Watson. The essence of the stories is the debunkings of many mysteries by Sherlock with the help of Doctor Watson.
This box set consists of the first three seasons released in the years 2010, 2012 and 2014 respectively. The first episode in season 1 is named A Study in Pink, which is based loosely on the novel A Study in Scarlet. This story marks the introduction of Sherlock Holmes to Dr Watson and their sharing a flat at Baker Street, London. In this story, the duo goes on to detangle the series of mysterious deaths that were initially believed to be suicides. The second episode tells the story of Holmes being hired for an investigation of a bank-break in the city. The conclusion of this season comes from the episode named The Great Game, which introduces the villain Jim Moriarty. Jim gives Sherlock a series of unrelated cases to solve, apparently to perplex the debunking master.
After a successful run of the first season, the second season was aired in the year 2012. The first episode was named A Scandal in Belgravia, which is based loosely on the novel A Scandal in Bohemia. This episode tells the story of Holmes' pursuit to retrieve compromising photos of a minor royal. It also has an episode named The Hounds of Baskerville, which explores the investigation of strange events at a military base. This season saw its conclusion with the story The Reichenbach Fall. This episode has Moriarty plotting to kill Sherlock and it is based on the novel The Final Problem. Season 3 was released in the year 2014, which had the episodes including but not limited to, The Empty Hearse based on the novel The Adventure of the Empty House and The Sign of Three based on the novel The Sign of the Four. This season ends with His Last Vow, in which Sherlock gets into a conflict with a terrifying villain named Charles Augustus Magnussen. Sherlock - Season 1 To 3 was released in 2014 by BBC in DVD format. It is rated U/A and is in the language of English.
